Those were the days, and how I wish I could turn back time. You brought back some lovely memories for me, and I thank you for that. This is a great contest entry and I wish you the best of luck! :)) Sandra

What a trip down memory lane. Those of us who have been captured by the innocence of our gadget free childhood remember those and more of what you write. Thank you for sharing this. God bless

Ah, those good old days - riding our bikes all over town - playing kickball in the alleys (I love alleys - wish we still had them) But times have changed so much - I applaud parents who take their kids out on walks, out camping - play baseball in the back yard.
Good poem.

Hello JLR. As I read your poem, I was reminded of those days and the fact we only played indoors when it was dark, cold, or raining. I think I played with every one of the toys and the only other I can think of was we used to play backyard baseball with old Tupperware cups and bowls. We called it "cupball." Robert

Robert, it was fun and the "in thing" to be doing when we grew up. The kids today couldn't create a stick game today without a power supply and an app.

So right.

What a wonderful trip down memory lane! I remember each and everything you mentioned pluss much more such as Super Balls, squirt guns, and Green Army Men. Your poem rhymed, made sense, and made me feel nostalgic. Good luck in the contest.

Earl, thanks for the six stars and walking down memory lane with my poem.

I remember those days. We didn't have video games, and I wouldn't have gotten them if we did. We played outside, rode bikes and watched the Adam West version of Batman on a black and white TV. I think kids these days have lost something. Good luck in the contest.

Cindy, the sad thing is they will never know...and there lives pale in comparison to what we grew up doing.

Love this! You are speaking my childhood too in this. We had simple toys back then that actually made you use your imagine. Always playing outside, you didn't see your family until dinner in the summer! And then back outside until dark! thanks for sharing this! xoxo

-Nice artwork, JLR.
-I can relate to your notes.
-We made up games,
and played a lot outside.
-I like your poem with
very good imagery, rhyme,
and smooth flow of ideas.
-I like the use of names
to make it more personal
and show what kids did
back in the day.
-A very good conclusion, too.
-Good luck in the contest.

You are very welcome, JLR. One thing about getting older-the memories grow.
