I don't think any of us could survive without a large sense of humor, but take heart--people are always generously offering you writing material and not even charging for it!

This sense of humor has served you well. And your readers. The sign had me in stitches. All the exclamation marks. I'm still laughing. I think I'm going to start copying down signs. I have a friend who would love this story.

Hi, Mystic Angel7777~
I've been on a three-year hiatus and am now in the process of clearing out my Reviews inbox. Thank you for this cute one of yours.
How are you doing these days? Still getting in a lot of writing?
Comment from Earl Corp
This reminds me of Bill Engvall's Here's Your Sign. Don't you hate people that not only won't take advice but they're rude about it in the process.

Yes!
I've been on a three-year hiatus, so that's why I didn't reply earlier to this amusing review. Hope you've been well.
Comment from Cindy Warren
You still have a dollar store where things really are a dollar? Guess they can't afford to hire the best and brightest. LOL Thanks for a fun read.

Hi, Cindy!
I've been on a three-year hiatus and am now in the process of clearing out my Reviews inbox. I love this one of yours. Thanks for having made the time to write...and I'm sorry it took this long to reply!! (And, funny you should ask, our local Dollar Store just raised its prices to $1.25)
How is life going for you. Are you still writing and enjoying the process?

When I visit the Dollar Tree I am a smarta**, when they give the total I point to the EVERYTHINGS A DOLLAR and say it does not say each item is a dollar it says everything. The get flustered I laugh.

Yep, in the old days everything in the dollar store cost a dollar. Now the name of the store has expanded. Now prices vary and go beyond one dollar. It's still the cheapest price around, but be prepared to fork over several dollars an item.

Nothing stays the same, I guess. Even the Dollar Store deals with inflation.

LOL!! Oh, yeah, been there - done that....yes! They are such brilliant and customer-oriented folks, are they not?! :) :) As a wonderful friend of mine has me saying lately: Oy!! :)Thoroughly enjoyed this as I have been in this exact situation on more than one occasion -- love the sarcasm you've written into it ... so perfect! ;) ;) Yvette

Sarcasm: just one more service I offer!! (And you must be the only Louisianian [is that the correct term?] who says 'Oy!' But it captures every emotion, does it not?!)
Thanks for the validating review. xo
-
LOL! Don't forget, I'm in Alabama now and they already think I pronounce some things 'silly' [a New Orleans' accent is very much like a Brooklyn one...in fact, when my mom and dad lived up in West Virginia, they had folks think they were from New York! ;) ;) Even though I don't have near the accent they do (long story there!), folks around here just expect crazy things from me anyway so, the 'oy!' works... love it! ;) :) Take care, you! ;)
-
I'm sorry; Alabama, not Louisiana! So nothing you say surprises those who know you! Now THAT is a luxury!! xo
-
Well, now that would depend on how you look at it...like what other things have I said that nothing surprises them anymore... LOL! LOL! :) ;)
-
Yes, good point! hahaha.

Rachelle:
I feel you on this one. Maybe those stores should
change their name to nothing more than a dollar
or "A Buck and Below" similar to the "$5 and below"
stores. Sometimes these situations can make the
best of us lose our cool.
thanks for sharing

Guilty as charged on THAT one, Jan!!

That's just funny. It makes you wonder what were the qualifications for this job anyway. I guess it depends on the employer. I'm sure that everyone in line was probably giving her the eye roll along with all of those unspoken words hanging in the air as you've so eloquently stated. I like this and the way you handled yourself. Well done!

Actually, that part was stunning, too, because NONE of them seemed to think it was odd! When she first asked her boss the price of my item, I looked to everyone else in line, and NOT ONE of them gave me a conspiratorial grin. I knew I was totally on my own. SO weird!!
Thank you for the nice review, Jeffrey. xo
