I want to be an exceptional writer like you when I grown up, Sandra. I am sitting here, shaking my head, saying, "How does she does this so seamlessly?" This is SO real and SO believable...and yet, we're talking about time travelers who get transported, at whim, it seems, throughout various centuries and land in catastrophic times. I repeat: "How does she doe this so seamlessly?" Well, no time to tarry here; I have more chapters to read!! xo

The tunnel is filling with smoke and chaos ensues. Hope is raised, then squashed each time Mildred and Veronica think they have discovered a way out of the impending doom. You can feel the fear and frustration of these two women as they search for a way out of the passageway.
Very taut chapter. Well done.

Thank you, Sandra, for this lovely review. Yes, Veronica is fast becoming very upset with the Powers. I'm glad you enjoyed this part! :)) Sandra xxx

Hello Sandra,
Another exciting chapter. There are more hurdles to overcome here
then there are in an Olympic Hurdles race.
It's good to see Veronica back in the story and I'm sure she will find a way.
Tailors and dressmakers...hmmmm
How is Veronica at sewing? Maybe she can embroider a message.
"I didn't doubt for a moment that the powers-that-be wouldn't take her out of here."
this reads like a double negative. (Perhaps I didn't doubt......would take her out)
Well done
Robert

Thank you so much for pointing out that error. You were the only one to spot that. The thing is, I've often hummed and harred over that expression and now you've actually told me, I'll remember it!! lol. Thanks for the lovely 6 stars, and another lovely review, my friend. :)) big hugs, Sandra xxx

-An excellent chapter, Sandra, as you
continue the tense situation.
-You did a great job with the detail in these scenes
as they are looking for another passageway,
and the light is basically nonexistent.
-I like Mildred's comment:
"Them powers-that-flaming-be..."
-I just realized her description fits
right in with trying to find a light switch!
-Maybe a little foreshadowing there?!
-Veronica is beside herself with worry
and frustration, and who can blame her?
-I wonder how many more obstacles the
powers are going to put in front of her and Mildred?
-They are going to require a name change from Powers
That Be to Procrastinating Pretenders!

I'm glad you liked Mildred's bit of frustration, lol. It's not often she gets annoyed. Yes, the Powers are not being very kind in this part, and Veronica is becoming is also becoming increasingly angry. Let's see what happens next. Thank you so much for the 6 stars and fabulous review, Pam. Big hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

You are very welcome and deserving of the stars and review, Sandra. That was an effective bit with Mildred, and poor Ver. You are making her suffer:)

I had to get caught up on the story as I've been off a while. I'm feeling better but have a nasty cough. So sick of it. Anyway very exciting chapters. I do hope Veronica can find help and get someone to open the door so everyone doesn't choke to death. Great writing as always. Looking forward to the next. Rox

Well done. HEre's a six stars for you :-D Tee hee. You earned them!
I know I say it A-L-L the time, but...I love the way you write. You can really build the suspense. I find it hard to do that. Maybe that's why I like reading your story, well ONE of the reasons! *Smile
I look forward to reading more of this adventure. Great work!!

What's next INDEED! Smoke is not the issue, Finding another way as well.
You certainly have a talent for drama. I guess I missed the chapter on the Holloway Prison.
Dang, you found a way out, but not really, yet.
You blend in touches of humor nicely to take the edge off. Youy descriptions are realistic as well.
Once again left to wonder. Nicely done!

Thank you so much, Tom, for this lovely review. The part where Mildred was locked up in Holloway Prison, was when she was trying to stop Gladys going along with the suffragettes. Instead of being able to stop her, Mildred ended up being arrested as well. Gladys was later murdered by her Vice Admiral husband and she is now a ghost watching over her son, who is a doctor in WW1. I don't know how much you missed, but I hope that helps.
Thanks again, my friend, for reading and reviewing this part. :)) Sandra xxx

As always, it's a sheer delight to read one of your episodes. The words smoothly run and your dialogues are so natural. There is plenty of drama, which creates plenty of tension, very enjoyable.

You've certainly left us hanging with this one! It looks as though it's going to be up to Mildred to find the solution, but goodness alone knows how. There doesn't seem to be much that Veronica can do. I hope those 'powers that be' know what they're doing. Typical gods - always testing people!
Just a couple of minor spags:
What else can go wrong?(space needed) I took a deep breath.
No way was (were) my friend and all these patients going to die.

Thank you so much, Tony for this lovely review. I love the reference to the 'typical gods' lol. Thank you also for finding those two errors. I sometimes get my 'was and were' mixed when I'm writing Veronica's part, especially after I've just written a speech for Mildred. No excuses for this time, though! Thanks again, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Another post full of your unrivalled talent as a story-teller, Sandra. I'm so proud to be one of your readers - which is not to say I'm not as green as you please with you-know-what! You get and keep the reader on the edge, biting their nails.
No sooner are Vero and Mildred seemingly capable of overcoming one difficulty than the next one comes at them full bore. Vero's do-gooder heart is twisting with helplessness where she needs to help. But the reader knows she'll come through victorious.

LOL! No, I would never say you were green, Aki!! What a lovely review, thank you so much. I think this is her hardest assignment, she keeps coming up against these brick wall, real and virtual. Thanks again, my friend. :)) Sandra xx
Yes, I think very has so many walls she should try and give at least half of them to Trump to hoick up at the border!
