Hi, jannypan. This is such a fun read. When I lived in California, I came home to find a 5 foot rattler in my yard. A common occurrence there. Hired a snake wrangler to take it away to Loma Linda antivenin program. Marilyn

Thank you so much for reading & reviewing my poem. I really appreciate it. We have rattlers everywhere. Sometimes they sneak into residential areas from nearby fields. I do not want to hurt them. I just wish they would stay far far away from me.

Where are you in Texas, janny? Rattlers are so scary. I was always very careful with myself and my dogs in southern California. Marilyn

I am in Midland. There are vacant lots around and some open fields. Whenever construction begins on any of them, the snakes scatter. Some elementary schools have vacant fields that border them, too. When I was teaching, we always had to be on the lookout for them especially at recess.

The first two weeks of May I'll be driving across country (again as I have in the past) passing through Texas on the 40 once more. It is such a vast state, a proud state. Who doesn't like Texas? (Not the snakes, though!) Marilyn

Well of course it goes well with the other one. Sorry I can't rise to an alliterative reply again but it is too early in the morning. You ought to have a go at my competition - Alliterative Verse. Entries are blind so there can be no accusations of favouritism here.

Hi, Jannypan. You are very creative. What a tough task and you were able to tell a very intriguing little story here. It flowed beautifully. Love the "snake surveillance." Yikes, that's scary. Thanks for sharing. It put a smile on my face. All the Best! Mickey

Thank you very much for taking time to read, review, and comment on my poem. I do not like snakes. If they stay far, far away from me out in the fields, then that will be ok. I will investigate your portfolio ASAP. Thanks again.

This is so clever. I have been reading your works with a bit of envy I must admit! I can feel the heat and hear the slithering snake and I can taste the super sized soda. Well done!

Thank you so much. I appreciate your review and kind words. I must admit that I am still learning how this site works. I have only recently figured out how to write a decent haiku. Please read all my work. I feel honored that someone actually said they were reading my work.

I will read all your work if you read all of mine. ;)

Yes, I looked you up. I have read several. I read the one about Roland. I really liked that one although it was sad. I will read the others. I fanned you. Thank you.

Congratulations on your win, Jannypan.

100% 's' alliteration in this so clever and great fun read.

Clever and original presentation, too.

Great skill to present as a smooth continuing story within such tough restrictions.

Genuinely excellent!

BRAVO!

Best wishes, Ray xx

You did a great job telling a story in your poem using only words that start with s, I can see why you won, congratulations.

Good imagery too and the last line made me smile

Wonderful alliteration combined with excellent story telling. Those lucky students have no idea. I hope they enjoy the snow cones.
This is imaginative and so well conceived. I can see why you won the contest. It is no easy task to pack that much alliteration onto a page and come up with a story that makes sense, especially one that has a dramatic flare by building tension and telling a complete story.

Absolutely hate snakes but love the line "snowcones sound so soothing." Tonssss of alliteration going on here. You were even able to tell a story with it!

Thank you so much. Actually I had written most of the poem before this contest came up. Contest or not, it was fun to write although the picture is the least scary one I could find. I did not want to spend time looking at snakes. Thank you for the kind comments.

This poem is hilarious!!!

I like how you wrote "snake slithered south". Not only does it look like a snake slithering, but the snake is slivering down ,i.e., 'south'.

Solid artwork!

Good luck in the competition.
