This 3-5-3 does the trick in painting a very quick picture of these amazing winter birds. They blend right in. Feathered snow has a lovely feel to it. Would be a good title.

Yes, a good title for this piece - better than the one it has. Glad you liked the imagery in this poem.

Lovely, thank you for sharing and for the photo too. I have seen these birds and arctic foxes as well while visiting Lapland, northern Finland. I love poems about animals, especially birds. This was the first one ever about this creature :-)

Wow, what gorgeously beautiful bird the Ptarmigan are! They certainly blend in well with their environment. I suspect that where they live, there is always a great deal of snow on the ground to blend in with.

Excellent work, and good luck to you! :)

Thanks! Yep, nature does an amazing job of camouflaging and protecting vulnerable creatures. These birds love snow and cold weather. One reviewer said she saw them in Finland. If they're quiet and stay still, I'll bet predators don't even know they're there. Not sure if their smell would be a give-away.

I like the line feathered snow. Great descriptive words to create the imagery in my mind. The syllable count is correct. Great picture. Best of luck.

pack of ptarmigans
feathered snow

Nature certainly helps with hiding these vulnerable birds, giving them perfect camouflage.
Well done.

Brevity in perfection. The pretty picture enhances the theme. A well crafted, pleasant writing entry.

A joy to have read.

This is a well written 5-3-5 poem. In just a few words the author tells a complete story. There is alliteration with pack/ptarmigans on second line. Imagery is great as I can feel the huddled warmth in spite of cold snow. The artwork enhances the written poem. Thanks for sharing.

They actually do look like feathered snow. It's amazing how well they blend in. You'd pretty much have to be on top of them to see them. Good luck in the contest.

Hi There!

Very nice. Of course, most of us were thinking of the typical ascription of camouflage ... the green-brown stuff. What a pleasant surprise ... and beautiful, too! The poem is very pretty in in perfect prosody with the graphic. Good luck in the contest!
