A very nice piece, milady, and you covered a lot of ground in such a short time. Good imagery and a nice twist at the end. I can only imagine what Billy thought as he looked into the bore of his own pistol. I'm guessing Kathy's in for a hard time as she deals with her emotions in the aftermath of what she's done. I just hope her parents are understanding. A good read, many thanks. Chuck

I like this a lot; it's an easy-read, which I can almost always enjoy. Also, it's meaningful! Conveying meaning with simple language is a lot harder than it sounds, so I salute you. Please check out my work sometime. :) Take care.

P.S. Enjoy the five stars!

Well do, B. Thanks for the kind review and the stars. I'm glad you found the read easy. Yes, that was the goal, and we had limited space and time, as per the prompt. I liked Kathy, and I'm glad you did, too!
    Thanks again.

Very well done. Some things just never change, and that goes for men who expect little or no retribution for their bloody deeds. Great job. Good luck in the contest.

Well, Billy should have known better. Kathy Campbell had warned the lad before, and just like most men are prone to do when it comes to their women, Billy let it go in one ear, then out the other. Unfortunately for young Billy, a bullet soon followed.

Nice story of the old, untamed wild, wild west! Good luck to you in the contest.

Thank you for the really nice review and those sexy stars! I'm glad that you liked the tale of Bad Billy. I think he got what he deserved, too. Kathy has a mind of her own; he should have known what would happen.
    Luck is much appreciated!

I like this story. What will be the consequences when she gets home? She is perhaps naŻve? One wonders about this.
you write in a believable fashion, and the reader is left concerned for the girl and wants her to be ok. Great story tell.

Thanks for the great review, Watergirl! I'm so glad that you like my little tale of Bad Billy. Well, Kathy has a mind of her own. She took over the story, which I had thought would be all about him, and made it her own. I'm hopeful she will wiggle out of this mess. ;)
I'm just glad that you found her to be a sympathetic character and found the story so likable. Thanks for the stars, too.
And thank you, Watergirl, for organizing the contest. It was a great prompt and a lot of fun to work with. I've enjoyed taking part.

This is very well written and you manage a lot with your 570/571 words. : )
You have managed some clearly drawn characters, a beginning, a climax and and a conclusion. I pause at the phrase, "put his hands on her." Your first use of it seemed too mild a way to discribe rape, so I thought maybe he stopped short of it. But it turns out he did rape her and her continued reference to the act feels more like a young woman of this time period's inability to name it as such, which really seems believable.

Rebel, thank you for such a wonderful review of my humble Tale of Bad Billy. I'm so pleased that you understand Kathy, who would never call what happened a rape, though it most definitely was. She is a young woman with a mind of her own, so, unlike Papa, I let her have the reins and her own voice.
I thank you for the compliments and the stars, all of which made my evening.

I'm so glad that you liked my humble tale of Bad Billy, Bobby Jo. Thanks for the encouragement. Wow. I'll take "great writer" any day! I've no idea why a western popped into my head with the prompt, but I like Kathy and grew fond of her quickly. She certainly had a mind of her own.
Thanks again for your kind words and those lovely stars.

This is a very good flash fiction piece, well written, no spags, draws the reader in and holds the attention right to the end.

Well done, good luck in the contest.

Mystery Author, I really liked this storyline. Great visions of that era came through with your imaginative words. I could readily see Kathy taking care of Billy in that manner.. I loved how she "gave" him his revolver. And, yup, Papa would be proud! Great job and good luck in the contest.

Great job with the flash fiction story beginning with the sentence "She looked down at the dried blood in the dust..."
It has realistic heroine in Kathy. She suffered a terrible experience, tried to get away, but ended up killing Billy.
Well written! BG
