Thank you for this informative piece. I am seeing a lot of advertisements on Facebook for people who want to promote books. I'm sure they are expensive and not worth it. But to be called by a scammer is something entirely different. It was a good thing that you learned it was a scam before proceeding forward.

Yeah scammers are everywhere and improving in their craft over time. I was hit with fraudulent Chinese mask scam during Covid. They shipped a package that included some part other than masks so they had a tracking number, and then disputed my claim when I demanded my money back, so I'd have had to get a police report, and I didn't know how to go about that during Covid.
A couple small typos:
-Your first sentence should have a comma where there is a period
I again, reminded him <= this comma isn't needed, unless you changed it to "Again, I reminded him"
I thought how wonderful that would be and would, <= slightly awkward/redundant to have "would" twice
Otherwise looks good! Thanks for sharing,

Yeah scammers are everywhere and improving in their craft over time. I was hit with fraudulent Chinese mask scam during Covid. Thank you for the edit. I only read through this once after I wrote it. I had hoped my grammar check had covered the errors. It had not. My novels I edit numerous times.

Thank you, Barbara. I get scamming texts and emails every day! Some pretending to be the USPS. It's so darn scary! If you remember, Jay Squires was scammed and his bank accounts emptied in a few hours. I don't speak or respond to anyone I don't know.
What ticks me off are the crooks that sell our information to the scammers. Double bad. Thank for sharing. Sending you my best today as always.

How incredible, these scammers have absolutely no sense of decency, I can't imagine how they can possibly do what they, perhaps they could turn their abilities over to the good side, they prey like rabid animals. Well done, thanks for sharing Barbara, blessings Roy

Thank you for writing this, Barbabra. Scammers are the absolute worst humans on the planet and the problem is they are so good at their jobs. I try to go by the old standard...if it sounds too good to be true, and costs money, RUN! lol This should be very helpful to others.

I've had a similar call. I didn't even bother contacting my publisher. I'm sure I'll get "bit in the ass" someday, but still automatically assume scams. I've got one right now about money owed for driving in a zone that required a pass. Ignored that one too. Hope I'm right.
