Wow, this story is absolutely beautiful in every way. It brought me to tears! I was so not expecting that ending and it made it all the more touching! As a mom and a daughter this pulled on all my heart strings. Thank you for sharing!

I admit I began reading this with my usual skepticism. Dialogue-only pieces tend to bottom out after a paragraph or so. This one was a welcome surprise. I watched my mom fall into the dark well of Alzheimer's. It's a most cruel disease, both for the victim, and the loved ones that stand alongside. Well done, Jessica.

Hi Jessica,
You've written an excellent "dialogue only" story with a heartwarming message to do your best in life, and the rewards will pay off in the end. You created a strong atmosphere and connection with the white deck and the bench by the sea. Congratulations on your win.

I kind of thought I was losing it for a moment there as your story took that unexpected turn. Very well written. I could almost see the old man and the young lady sitting on that bench watching the water. Growing old is so hard for some (probably most). Good job!

This is a top effort. Great concept with a surprise at the end. The dialogue is entertaining, and it retains the reader's interest. Difficult to do especially in a rather long piece. Well done. Congratulations on the win.
Take care

I'm typing through tears to tell you moving this is. Reading this as a father to 2 children (now fully grown) makes me wonder if it will be me someday on that bench, and hopefully my children have the same tenderness to care for me like this. Thanks for stirring me today!

Good morning, Jess!
I don't know how I missed your exceptionally well-crafted dialogue narrative, but... Congratulations on penning a beautiful story of loss and love.
Realistic dialogue that resonates with me deeply as my mother also suffered from dementia.
I love the setting and the little hints that you interspersed throughout your story...
Again, Congratulations!
Best wishes,
fondly,
diane

diane, thank you so much for your kind words and wonderful review. I'm delighted (but not surprised) that you picked up on the little hints many didn't catch.
I'm so sorry to hear you experienced this with your mom. Xo

I knew I saved some sixes for a good reason! What a lovely story in dialogue only. Even without the color-coding, I could probably easily tell who was speaking. I love the surprise turn the story takes.
