Hi Patrick,
I like the way your reversed the usual acrostic and put the word at the end of the line. This poem shows how much this woman is loved. I hope she reciprocates the love.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Congrats of placing third in the contest.
Enjoy the rest of the week.

Well, I was going to reply to your poem, but reading your notes, I think I want to experience Carson McCullers, "The Ballad of the Sad Cafe. That's a beautiful image. I don't know if it is real or AI, but she is beautiful.

There are not enough sixes...
From the piercing image to your elegant verse this is ethereal and ebullient and enticing!
"Basic" forms such as the Acrostic turn to masterpieces in your hands!

I have never seen and acrostic poem with the ending lines. Interesting. You should be fine because this contest is a free verse poem. I enjoyed reading this contest entry and want to wish you luck with the contest.

i'll say it and not be ashamed: I am the Lord's beloved, and am beloved of Him. As far as earthly love, we both tackled this contest from different angles. I get your message, but agree to disagree with it. I still believe in mutual love and the love my wife displayed going through torment for my daughter's life is a true love.

Yeah, love is probably one of the more prolific subjects for poetry, and there are so many facets of the concept! People agreeing to disagree about things and still remaining friends and getting to know each other better should be the way of the world--it could rightly be called brotherly love. Thanks again, Jim!

An excellent entry for the What is Love Poetry contest. I have never seen an actostic done with the last letters of a poem. I am amazed. The artwork is amazing and your descriptions are flawless. Beautiful work on this one.

Thank you, Marilyn! Always thankful that you are my fan! Some fans take your posts and turn everything that's said into some kind of sexual reference. That would drive me crazy! Please don't ever change! 😉

Wow, what a combination, from the picture, to the poem, to Carson McCuller's words from The Ballad of the Sad Cafe. I don't often reread or watch anything, but I might have to experience this more than once.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Ric! You nailed the idea behind the project. It's a black-and-white photograph, a 10-letter word, and an acrostic. I have so far gone down the alphabet to U. I hope to finish it in the next few months.

I love the smooth flow of the poem. It has a professional touch of a great poet. The accompanying picture complemented the poem. A very descriptive piece. Well done, dear Patrick. Well enjoyed.

I think this is only the second time I've ever seen an acrostic that lines up at the end. And you used a right-aligned text to draw attention to it. Always coloring outside the lines:-)
Patrick, if you started your own greeting card company, you'd put Hallmark out of business immediately! What a beautiful poem for a beautiful face - your description of the image is spot-on. The "piercing, ebon gaze" made more so because the focus of the frame is that one eye, surrounded by white lace.
Great presentation and your words make all the girls swoon. You are going to do very well in the contests on this site.
I'm saving a six for your prose, as I know you will give us something worthy of it before the week is out.

Wow! This is a stunning poem. A back-to-front acrostic poem - that's clever. "that oval of sable skin is the graceful ideal of a swirling nebula" - how poetic!

😊 By the way, if I answered this twice, it was because of a glitch.
