I've always enjoyed stories or movies that took place on the road. I even posted three such stories here, but nothing, I repeat, nothing like this. I know nothing about trucks or their drivers except, I was driving behind an 18-wheeler in the city, when it turned a corner at a fast speed and the cargo portion flipped over. Yikes!
I'm going to try to follow Clyde as he studies and plans. I have no clue where this all might take him.

This is well-written but rather painful for me. I would look for and haunt the driver responsible for his wife's death, not all drivers who maybe just made a misjudgment.

The movie watching educated him on ways to dodge the law? All that TV we're watching is good for something, I reckon.
"Blasting him to smithereens" - now we're talkin' Bonnie and Clyde stuff.
So, that opening day speech, is that what it's really like? If so, it's no wonder that there are some terrible truck drivers out there. Personally, I find the people in cars to be bigger assholes about getting out of the way and challenging everyone around them.
You've turned that one-time-only story into a book, huh?

I made up the speech. One reviewer said that a trucking firm her husband knew of offered 4 hrs of training.
You are right. By count, car drivers are the greater numbers needing zapped.

I always like stories that about anyone, anyone who drives anyway, can relate to. But I'm not sure the comments in your author's notes are correct: "And yes, I am fully aware that there are more good (great) truckers out there than there are bad ones." Truckers were once-upon-a-time the best drivers on the roadways: safety conscious, kind, cautious, and considerate. But these days, desperate for drivers, trucking companies will hire about anybody, and their falling safety records prove the decline. So, lets all load up and start shooting. :-) Just joking. Thanks for sharing.

This is such a cool story about a decent guy who's gone a little nuts in his desire for revenge. He's found a method that works, but he's very meticulous about it in an effort to not get caught. You've thought this out well, and it's very believable with all the detail you provide about trucking.
I was a little confused by your final two paragraphs. Are these his thoughts about what they are teaching at the class, or does the teacher actually look at truckers as being the kings of the road? And what does the teacher mean when he says "Surface roads are made for cars. Get out of our shop!" I just don't get whose thinking this is or what you really mean here.

You're right. I allowed fr a bit of confusion and I change it. My meaning is that the teacher is giving trucking students a pep talk that cars should get out of truckers' work place (the freeway).

I figured that he was taking "know thy enemy" to heart and then maybe, he would even become friends with one and the whole nature of his revenge mission would change. But then he had to hear that awful orientation speech!

Clyde definitely is filling his plate with a lot of information. I don't know if I would be able to consume and understand all of it. At times, it seems that he appreciates the good drivers but his need for vengeance is greater. quite the story!
