Your style and Rachelle's complement each other nicely. I'm a big fan of self-deprecating humor, and you both employ that to perfection. I really enjoy your sense of humor, from all the astrological sign references, to your touching various things under the hood just "to make Rachelle think [you're] trying," to comparing your crying to "Lucy when Ricky Ricardo tells her she can't be in the show."

Your outlook and hers (pessimistic and optimistic respectively) couldn't be more disparate, and that only adds to the humor. I fully intend to catch up with the rest of the story within the next day or two, as I'm definitely enjoying it so far.

Terrific, Gretchen. A very funny companion to Rachelle's wonderful Prologue. The two of you are hysterical. I love your subtle sense of exaggeration and your self-deprecation. This is an odd-couple story to be sure, and I greatly await future chapters. - Jim

I so enjoy this story's concept and, so far, the delivery is very amusing. The idea of dividing the telling of the tale is providing two totally enjoyable aspects of the journey with both senses of humor on display.

You had me at Flux Capacitor. It sounds like you two will get into trouble soon if the triple-A guy or gal doesn't get there soon. This was a fun read, and I must get into the next chapter soon. But for now, I must go to bed. Inventory tomorrow, yuck!
God bless,
Steve

Hi Gretchen,
I'm way behind on reviewing, but I look forward to seeing where this goes, eventually. It ought to be an interesting pairing. I don't understand the whole zodiac sign thing, so it's kind of going over my head, but I understand perfectly the desire to be in control.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

Virgo are usually very organized, don't like change, highly critical and blunt. Sometimes hard to get along with. We show our love with acts of service. Cleaning your house, washing your dishes. That sort of thing. That is me. Lol. Thank you for doing Rachelle and me on our trip. Gretchen

Of course, Rachelle is a Leo. She always dresses up in leopard clothing! I guess there is always a risk when a Virgo and a Leo go traveling together out in the middle of nowhere. No worries, the lion in Rachelle will take care of whatever comes to attack. Fun story. I read Rachelle's first and so came here to read yours.

Thank you! This should prove interesting. Lol. First, a Leo and a Virgo, then a Southerner and a Yankee. Who knows if the Amish community will ever be the same. Gretchen

"I can tell she didn't get the humor.....(I like to, no,) I hate to drive but I hate being a passenger worse"

Is Rachelle an imaginary character " because you mentioned the main character is driving alone.

I like your "Detour book" already. I look forward to the next chapter. Well done!

Rachelle is very real. Another writer on fanstory, Rachelle Allen is writing from her fictitious perspective. Glad you like it. Gretchen

Fictitious or not, it's the best trip i've been on in awhile. I am especially enjoying the dual point of view. I can't help but wonder if those Amish drivers (from the other POV) aren't in-bred killers who watch the highways for victims. Guess I need to be patient to find out! let's keep this trip going.

That's how I am. Suspicious of everyone. Rachelle Allen here on Fastory is writing her characters point of view. This should be fun. Gretchen

I have already read Rachelle's version of events on this road trip and you both have come up with a unique and entertaining idea Gretchen. Two of my favourite writers on Fanstory with inventive and clever writing skills have stories from two very different perspectives and styles. What a joy it has been to read your tales. Your humbling regret here at breaking down, both emotionally and physically as your old banger let you both down on this road trip. I loved your sense of humour and your talent here in this fine presentation. Both of you are exceptional story tellers, I wish I had a six for you both, love Dolly x x x

Been there. Done that. Out in the middle of Kansas at 11;00 at night. Only one light in all that darkness. My husband walked to light as the guy was getting in his car to head for the nearest town to pick up his wife when her shift at hospital got off. Husband brought back gas for half full car. I bent the tank syphon up on a big rock in mountains. I know exactly how (you forgot to put in her name) feels. Rachelle isn't being too friendly either. Maybe Rachelle's phone can connect? Interesting beginning to story.

With those qualifications, I want you with me next time. Lol. You need to write about that. Thank you so much. Gretchen

Writing about that reminded me of an even weirder coincident story. I plan to write them both up.
