Congratulations Debi! I'm so happy for you and Glen. I'm especially happy that God blessed you with wonderful children who honored you with a party. Your poem is loveable, just like you. I enjoyed it very much. Keep it going... maybe there will be a sixtieth too. ;p I have always loved this Anne Murray song and sang it many times with my sisters. I also, as you may know, love anything Vince Gill, so thanks for the two great additions of music that we can enjoy.

Thank you so very much, Adonna. Y'know we only wanted the people that made a difference to us in those 50 years. We wanted our family of course and that took care of 15 of us. Then our pastor, two that went with us to elope, his sister and husband, the two that introduced us, and our best friends and her family. We still ended with forty people. Oh, and I forgot to say that my pastor died of covid, but we wanted him.
Thank you my sweet friend for the lovely extra stars and for all the kind words. I am glad we love the same music. Whenever I am able to walk the we try a slow dance with our song. Just hasn't happened for a while, but we never give up hope. God is always showing His love with blessings.
You take care, my dear friend. Love, Debi

This gets 6 stars from me for so many reasons: one- it is well-written and pleasure to read, two-it touched my heart as it brought back so many memories for me, three-it felt honest. Thanks for sharing. ann

Thank you, Ann, so very much for finding and reviewing this even though it wasn't promoted. I am truly honored by your six stars too. You are so very kind and I appreciate it more than you could ever know. God Bless you my friend.
I hope you are still thinking about our bucket list : )
Thanks again. Love, Debi

Hi Debi,
Before I got to the end and glanced at the songs you picked out, I thought of Anne Murray's hit, "Could I Have This Dance".
Glen must have liked your poem very much. You have the knack of telling a story very well in rhyme. And that's not easy. It can often seem forced, but your poem flows nicely.
My favorite couplets,
"Some days could be long, when we had a fight
You were Mr wrong, I was Mrs Right"
and,
"He gave us this chance, to God, thanks and praise
Can I have this dance, the rest of my days"
I liked this couplet, too. But I'd make one slight change...
"My love and my heart, still yours, Glen my Dear
It was from the start, to our Fifty Year" ... ( I suggest,
My love and my heart, still yours, Glen my Dear
It was from the start, to our Fiftieth Year" ... I actually think that line needs the extra syllable. See what you think.
Nicely penned! And Congratulations on your 50 Years together!!! Golden!
Hugs,
Kimbob

First of all, thank you so much for reviewing this and for the wonderful comments. I am so honored by the six stars, dear Kimbob. Thank you so much. Yes, this song has been our song since we first heard it, so I purposely changed it to the rest of my days to add a little variety.
If I ever would add another syllable in, the end would be the place. I am so happy tho that you liked my internal and external rhymes on this one. I always respect your opinion so much. So I will add that part as I do like the way it sounds a little better too. Thanks with all my heart, my dear friend. I am so happy you are back too.
Wow, LOL, we had quite a day together today. I hope you feel better, Kimbob. God Bless you!! I will be praying!!

My hip has had it for today, Debi. I might take a couple of Tylenol and hit the hay now. I've got to go for an EKG tomorrow morning at 10:15am. The doctor keeps a close eye on me. I have a narrowed aortic valve. It's a bit sloppy, and I may need a valve replacement someday... ugh! I hope not! He has also threatened me with a pacemaker. I don't want one of those either! But sometimes my heart beats this way and that, fast and slow, feeling like skipping beats. It's sad to get old. I walk every week to stay in shape... 3 miles each time in about 55 minutes (average).
Good Night, Princess!
-
Big hugs to you!!

It's the longest I've spent in Fanstory since March 3rd! / Kim

I don't review much, so I am very happy that I got to spend some of your first day back with you.

I'm lagging behind here in my reviewing, Debi, and thought I'd reviewed this one (I know I've left a lot of congratulations elsewhere). So well done on this huge and glorious achievement! Your lovely verse says it all to Glen who must be a very proud and happy man! Have a great weekend. And keep celebrating, I'd say! Debbie

Hi Debi,
firstly let me say... how perfectly impressive on reaching a milestone of fifty years married... and to the same person:)
You have penned such a wonderful love story... and we both know it's not all sun, birds, bees and roses. It's the valleys peaks and even the plains that define such unconditional love. It's the respect, compromise and willingness to share in goods time and well, not so good times and all the beauty that follows.
I'm sure Glen would have soaked this beautiful poem up, tucked it away within his heart.
Beautiful story, beautiful rhyme, beautiful poem my sweet talented friend.
Yes, loved the notes just to elevate what was an already a heartfelt reciprocation.
With our thoughts we create...
the moments that count.
Warmest regards,
James.

Hey Sis, I saw this a couple of days ago when I stopped by FanStory for a minute. I wrote a review and thought I sent it, but with my technological deficiencies, I somehow failed to get it sent. Well here goes.
Debi, You are such a creative and thoughtful writer, that I am not always amazed, based on this fact. THAT'S WHAT YOU DO! But . . You have saved the best for last. You are so kind and thorough when you write about others, but no one can compare to your love and creativity when it comes to your wonderful husband and the rest of your family. You have given all of your many fans and open window into your 50 year life together with Glen. So many marriages these days are Fragile because they don't have a solid foundation and biblical pillars. You and Glen have given the world a blueprint For For committed unconditional, commitment that doesn't doesn't disintegrate in the face of adversity. The two of you have weathered storms that others have used as an excuse to bail. Great job.! So many people follow a delusionary scenario where they think they should have a relationship where everything goes their way and everybody's happy with that. Your perseverance in the face of challenges has created a fortification for your children and your children's children. They can look on a living, example in their own family, where to imperfect people formed an incredible life together that has transcended complexity and created a beautiful mosaic that has stood the test of time and will continue until God calls you both home approximately 50 years from now. And you didn't know I was a prophet!

Hey, dear Dan, I also didn't know that you had such a poetic way of writing free verse. That was beautiful and you should enter the contest about what love means with these beautiful words. I appreciate this so much and love that I inspired such a lovely spread of your words.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart and this is your niche dear bro. Awesome review and I thank you for the six stars too.
Thank you so much for reviewing this one after it was done being promoted and catching that it didn't go through. That has happened to me where it doesn't save.. Thank you again bro. It means the world to me. Love, Debi

You?re most welcome, Debi Since I am not anywhere close to a prolific writer, is it possible for you to put my review into your book of memories, even though it?s not a poem? We could call it tribute to the two of you.
After you complemented me on writing the review for you and Glen I looked back to see what I had said and I see several times where that dumb talk to text messed up. But I?m glad you got the gist of what I was saying.

Tom, my sweet surrogate brother, I just love that you found this one. And I should have known that you said that in joking. I don't believe now you meant it against me, so it is forgotten. My nose was just a little out of joint but is back where it is supposed to be. LOL.
It does bother me that we aren't in touch more, and I need to see if I can't take the time to come find you more too.
But I am glad you found me and appreciate the wonderful review. Thank you, my wonderful friend for the special things you said for Glen's poem. It does feel weird to make it to 50 years and still be in my 60's!

If health is a challenge for us in our sixties I can warn you it is more so beginning at 7-0
And then at 7-5 there is a new yelp daily
?God bless us all? - Tiny Tim of Dickens?
-
Thanks Tom. I try not to let it get to me, but the lupus came at 25 so been fighting disease and horrific pain since then. I am about ready to start kidney dialysis from kidney disease for the last five years so I know if I start to fall apart much more I am a goner. LOL.
Seriously, I try to never feel sorry for myself but keep my eyes on the prize and that is Heaven. So I don't have time to let it get to me too much. However, I am human and now I do feel the decline. I would be thankful just to walk again. That's what I am working at with warm pool therapy right now. So hopefully things will look up before I look up. Haha!
-
There is
So little I know of you and
Maybe it?s best for me to stop opening my mouth (writings) and inserting my feet ( plural)
-
No, don't worry about it Tom. I thought you knew about my lupus. I'll never forget how when they called code blue for me when I almost died when I had that leg surgery to help me walk, you pm'd me and told me you were praying for me. I will never forget that as long as I am here. So I am just saying because of illness, it would be so easy to start feeling sorry for ourselves, but I was taught to look on the bright side no matter what. So I don't fear what the seventies bring because I have been there for so long. Next stop for me is Heaven.
You didn't say anything wrong. I just hate the old saying, it sucks to get old. Y'know? When you work so hard at trying to keep a good attitude, so I would like to think there is hope to still feel better. It's just me still looking for hope.
