This is a moving eulogy in verse, sure to be appreciated at the funeral. I recently had to read a poem I wrote for my brother at his funeral. Not an easy task. I wish you the strength to do it well. My sincere condolences at your Dad's passing.

All, apologies for the copy-and-paste reply. It's only because I've had so many beautiful, wonderful, touching replies to my poem and I have so very much to get done in the wake of my Dad's passing.
You've helped me more than you can know and I'll be thinking about your encouraging comments when I read my poem aloud on Wednesday.
Your words mean more than I can say, and I thank you deeply.

This simple verse style is ideal for a eulogy where the last thing the reader wishes to be is remote. There are those who fight the battle with disease to the vlast round and those who fail utterly to see the point in such a struggle. I think I would count myself at one with your dad on this one.

This is a great tribute. Everything you stated is so heart felt and has special meaning to you that we will never know. However, may you treasure those memories for ever. Good job. Super picture. I am so sorry for your loss. Those special memories will sustain you after you get over the shock of his untimely loss. Thanks for sharing.

No need to apologize. Take care.

First and foremost, Mike, I'm truly sorry for your family's loss.
Those little "nuggets left behind" are simple things we carry with us that pertain to the loved one we've lost for the rest of our lives. Indelible memories that will never be erased. The way they laughed, told jokes, smiled, or tilted their heads a certain way when they felt something someone said was funny, or downright crazy.
It's a beautifully written, wonderfully composed tribute to your father. I'm sure he's proud of it, and you -- beaming and smiling broadly from above as it's being read by everyone.
You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers during this very trying time. ~Dean

I completely understand your reasons for a cut & paste reply, Mike, especially now. Again, you and your entire family have my deepest condolences.
God bless, buddy, and hang tough.

I am sorry for your loss. You are already doing something very important which is to bring to your mind and to minds of others as well, which is to recall the good memories you have with your father. You will still miss your dad, but you will miss him a little less by recalling those good memories. Blessing, Patricia

Hi Mike,
I'm sad to hear the news that your father has passed. You've written a beautiful poem in easy to understand language, a steady cadence and lots of enjambment. I connected to it emotionally right away and my dad has been gone for 28 years. I love the way you describe the power of a memory "the nuggets carried with us". Best wishes for you and your family as you journey through this difficult period.
All the best,
Rodger

Mike--
Nicely done poem. Sets, I think, just the right tone for the purpose you have for it. Sorry about your dad. You seem to have clear feelings about him and the poem reflects that admirably. My feelings for my dad were complex, to say the least, though I could have written, I think, a poem like yours. Wasn't called upon to do so.
Thanks for sharing it.

Nice tribute to your Dad sure he would very much appreciate. You speak very highly of different gifts, such as humor and the illustration of him blossoming, which adds more depth to this well written poem.
