This will be a fitting piece to read for your father. You have my sympathy. You stand now where I stood nearly forty years ago, missing a father who died too young. Excellent post.

All, apologies for the copy-and-paste reply. It's only because I've had so many beautiful, wonderful, touching replies to my poem and I have so very much to get done in the wake of my Dad's passing.
You've helped me more than you can know and I'll be thinking about your encouraging comments when I read my poem aloud on Wednesday.
Your words mean more than I can say, and I thank you deeply.

Sorry about your dad, sweetheart. It's a lovely poem and quite fitting for its occasion. Keep strong and God bless you.
An ending is a chance
to look back over time
at rivers we have crossed
and mountains we have climbed.[This is my favorite stanza]

Mike, this is filled with emotion. You honor your dad's memory with love and respect. I wrote a poem for my dad's funeral nearly two years ago. I found it difficult to write because my emotions got in the way. I kept in simple with intentions of writing better poems later. I'm still overcome with emotions and can't really write for him. I'm sorry for your loss. Your dad sounds like a great man. Your family will find comfort in this poem. Hugs, Joy.

Excellent Poem! So sorry to hear about your Dad's passing.
The author's words are kind, flowing, creative and thought provoking. The reader pondered on the sweetness of this poem. The artwork is perfect and compliments the theme of this poem.

Mike, first my condolences for your loss. Your poetry is a real tribute to a son's love for his father.
These are the gifts we're left with
from those we leave behind,
the nuggets carried with us,
forever to remind.
You have deeply honored your father's memory with this poem.

Words have difficulty to express our emotions for a deceased loved one. It is best to store fond memories in our heart so they will be with us forever.

Well done Mike, and sorry for your loss, it can leave something of desert of emotion for awhile, but that will pass, my wife and I have lost all four of our parents, so in a sense we're orphaned, albeit "old" ones! Well done, a great tribute to your dad, I'm sure he'd be proud of you. Nicely simple, the flow is great, the tempo/meter is good, the general abcb rhyming is also good, well done, blessings, Roy.

This part I felt so much love for your Dad.

I am so sorry to learn of your loss. This is so beautifully written and a lovely tribute to you father. I love the simplicity of this yet it is clearly written from the heart. I am sure he will be smiling as you read it. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Awe, not exactly the kind of thing one looks forward to reading....I'm sorry...it hurts so bad...you'll miss him forever and nothing is the same although you will try to make it that way. I lost my mom the day after mother's day last year. At both my mom's and dad's funerals I read a poem they both really liked. It is titled PASSING.
If you want, you are more than welcome to read that also. It is in my list of poems. I hope he suffered not. Take care of you and I send the hug of an angel to hold you up. DiAnne
