Three dots is ellipse? I knew that. I just didn't want to start showing off, and maybe ruining my chances to take advantage of all those fivers I've been throwing around. Sag...(there's another one) is the story of my life. Never really looked it in the eye before. Doesn't hurt as much as I assumed it would. In fact it's a nice feeling to be able to step away and start over with your goal more succinctly defined...Jesus, now I'm starting to sound like you...let me out of here...Tecate

Well, this should just about finsh it! Huh? How'd I do? I really do appreciate your hanging in there for the whole series, to date. I'm working on the notes and outline for Micro. So, in about 3 weeks it should be posted. Look forward to your commentary.

God this is dense. I'm not sure if I learned anything either but I must say it is obvious that you enjoy the written word. I hope to encounter you again in these pages. People like you fascinate me.

LOL. "Enjoy the written word." Is that kinda like saying "You like the sound of your own voice?" Thank you for reading it and I hope you encounter me, too. Jump aboard. The next segment will be out in a couple of weeks.

This is my first experience with your writing and I find it very enjoyable. Your points are succinct, and put forth very well. I found nothing that needed work, or corrections, and I am on the way to start at the beginning. Nicely put.

I am blushing all over the place. Don't call support to get your monitor fixed. It's me. Thanks again, French. I DO hope you'll tag along for the rest. You are a most welcome guest.

I enjoyed your style Jay, ie, the way that you bring your family life into the serious art of critting novels. It seems to make the chapter more reader friendly if you know what I mean. Thanks for your tips.

Thank you Wendyanne, for your confidence in what I'm trying to do. Hope you jump aboard. BTW, If you plan on continuing with the series, you might want to bookcase it. I won't be able to promote the other segments like I did the first three. There just isn't enough time to crit writings, accrue member $$ and use them to promote ? not and do a creditable job on the pieces I'm critting.
Thanks again...

Thanks for reminding me to bookcase it. I'm on my way to do that right now.

Hi jaysquires,
Your essays always rivet my attention. It's okay if you detour once or twice en route to the arena; the scenery is entertaining, inspirational and educational.
Thanks for sharing. I look forward to reading more.
Best to you,
:) Jo

Well, I did take a lot of the sag from the middle. Now it's sagacious. LOL. Thanks for your confidence in the series, though, L&P. I appreciate more than you know having you along. While I have yet to read the last installment, so as to be completely up to speed, I really enjoyed that.
You write well (clearly) and I am very happy that you have decided to publish your thoughts on the subject of critiques. I fear that the common creative soul in a little too fragile, and am glad that someone of your stature is taking it upon yourself to explain to everyone that an honest "critter" is the most valuable.
I agree that the editing stages of writing should be viewed as business, not pleasure, (so to speak) "Cut the crap and show me the good stuff!" mentality.
The final anecdote is particularly uplifting, simply because writers need 'John Q Public' or Mrs. Reads thirty books a year to look over their work. Not someone who will appreciate the ins and outs of alliteration and use of verb noun structure. Not to say that isn't important, but the first priority of writing should be for people to love it and not necessarily know why.

Thank you so much $hogun for your kind comments. I'm glad you are getting something from the series. BTW, If you plan on continuing with the series, you might want to bookmark it. Thank you again for your kind words.

Okay, what is bookmark? I am starting to see what you mean about collecting the member dollars! Geeze. By the way how much did it cost to bump your piece to the top? (If it's not too much to ask...)
-
I may have meant book case. Go to your "My" tab and choose book case. What you do is choose a particular work and put it in your book case. Then, whenever a writer posts a new chapter for that book you are notified. That way you get to read it while it's got some $$ attached to it.
I think it was $30 member dollars to get me to number 2, plus about 20 pumps and some banners. It takes me about a month and a half to get that many dollars and pumps. Thats a lot of critting.
Regards,
Jay

Hi, this was good and i sort of got the drift of what you are trying to do with this chapter...light dawned, he, he
Some of it I agreed with and some I didn't, for example, I am one of those people who are very resistant to author's notes etc...My bio would read..."i have nothing to say".....I think authors notes detract from the work and take away any subtlties of meaning that the person might take away from reading...because you have defined it to much. Plus, they often take away the necessity for people to read on because you have over described...and given away to much. So, i resist the temptation to be so completely understood.
This was well written even if some of the things I don't understand or don't agree with. Nothing to fix for me, this is a work that I would recommend to other readers for review, cheers, rebekah

Hey, Rebekah, thanks for the detailed crit. I don't expect everyone to agree. I set this up for me -- and anyone else to use or adapt. I'm just so thrilled you read it and would recommend it to others. BTW, If you plan on continuing with the series, you might want to bookmark it. Your voice comes through so clearly it makes the piece enjoyable to read. It's almost like having a conversation with you. Albeit, a very, very one-sided conversation. Good Job. This is interesting--all the way through.
