As per usual, the brilliant mind that is you has enraptured me yet again! Your stories, your poems, just the way you write is giving me the inspiration to finish my own story. One day I would love to pick your brain, not literally of course, and find out what inspires you to be one of the most chilling authors I have read in awhile. I remember once asking if you were really Stephen King in disguise and reading this makes me jump back to that conclusion. Dean you create wonderful worlds! I can't wait to see what you have next for all of us!

Ah, nuts! I don't have any sixes left for this gem, Dean. You won't need mine though...you will get a ton for this writing, I assure you. And...that doesn't count the win you will have for the entry. Bravo! Bob

Dean, you've got to be one of the very best members here. You don't just post, you put on a show for us. Sometimes I have to wonder just how much, in the way of special effects, you might have in your closet. Most of this stuff is not my first choice, but when I see your name, I have to stop and see.
You write, you review and you are a genuine participator. If I outlive you, I will come and burn a lizard on your stone. What more could I do. Thanks -

Well, what a great compliment, Bill. Sincerely though, I'm just another grunt in the trenches, trying to entertain and inspire. That's really what I do this for. And if you try to find my grave stone, let me make it easy for you. On it will be carved this epitaph...
Construction completed...
Thank you for your patience.

What a treat you have written here, sir (or is it a trick?) I find it absolutely no surprise that I should find you in a Halloween poetry contest. I can only imagine the evil sort of grin that spread across your face when you saw the category. And you certainly haven't disappointed.
It reads like a limerick, if I am not mistaken, and limericks are usually light-hearted and cheery, which makes this poem all the more unique and of your signature. There is certainly a hearty dose of cheek thrown in here, which, given the macabre nature of the story you have rhymed out, makes it all the more fun to read. Your author's notes once again lend credibility, and I have yet to find anyone else on this sight that has used their author's notes to such a creative degree as you, sir. As usual, you have gone above and beyond mere words by making this not just a poem, but something you might find in a gallery (or hanging on the wall in a crypt). Being born on the eve of Samhain myself, it wouldn't be unreasonable to think me biased, but I assure you, sir, your talent, and this wonderful, darkly giddy poem you have written deserve the praise. Well done and good luck in the contest.

Thanks so very much for this wonderfully in depth, fabulous review, Mike. I wanted to veer away from my more morbid offerings for this one, opting, as you said, for a more light hearted feel.
I am immensely pleased that you enjoyed this piece, and I thank you for your well-wished concerning the contest as well...

Interesting way to explain the expression bone to pick with someone, and let me ask you a question. Have you ever visited a cemetery at midnight? Have you ever tested your mettle this way? Horror is interesting, it's sci-fi gone wrong. That's why I like it.

Oh yeah, I have been to several cemeteries after the witching hour. Once, my best friend's cousin and I (what a gorgeous, dark-haired temptress she was!) sneaked off to one, just across the street from her home, and had sex on one of the old tombstones. Her idea, not mine! She was freaky-deaky that way, but she was so much fun!
Thanks loads, JM...

Absolutely delightful poem, Dean, and I enjoyed your notes very much. I love the ghost and creature stories from Ireland, so I appreciate your sharing the story of Robert and Mulwood Cemetery. I wish you lots of best wishes in the contest.

Aloha Dean,
I love everything about this poem and production. Top notch in every way. May I ask what program you work this into I don't think it's the advanced one here, I can't get it to work. Thank you for sharing. It's a winner, good luck in the contest...Sorry I don't have a "6"

Thanks very much, Hawaiian Mermaid. I do, in fact, use the advanced editor. I always opt for it over the standard one because I need it's versatility for all the "bells and whistles" I often include with my poetry and stories.
I truly appreciate the outstanding review!

Thank you for the reply. I'll work on it a little more and see if I can figure it out. I think it has to be worked up in a publisher program and then transferred to the advanced editor..Oh boy! another challenge. Love your "bells and whistles"
Aloha, Ginger

I would give you ten stars if I could. Not only did you relate quite a spooky story in the author's notes, you have created a poem that is spooky, horrifying, and yet in its own way a little amusing. The rhythm is great, and the words just seemed to flow as I read them. The music and artwork are perfect for this. I loved it. :) Sandra
