My greatest fear is that my reader, whoever that might be, will not like my character. That they won't want to spend time with them or might not even want to meet up with them again. I like the journey you take me on and the dilemma you wrestle with. This was awesome stuff. Gretchen

Your reader may not LIKE your character, but they won't forget them. I still remember your stories about the alcoholic father, the boy who got caught stealing the family car for a prom date, and the autistic boy and the brother who took care of him. I think the autistic boy influenced me with my play "Genius in Love." I'm so happy you found this post worthwhile. Jay

Excellent usage of analogies and metaphors to express a more profound truth. Writing is a struggle for all writers; even Edgar Allan Poe, Ernest Hemingway, and Agatha Christie faced the blank pages. Yet, word by word, precept by precept, they did it, leaving a path for us to follow in pursuit of our dreams. Thank for sharing.

I don't know how anyone can write every day for 67 years, no matter how much they love it. But I can say I'm glad you do since I never tire of reading your clear, elegant, and evocative posts that give me hope of someday achieving a similar musical ear and skill. Thanks for sharing.

At least you are not a quitter and you can be proud of yourself that you never gave up on your dreams. I think there has to be joy in our writing, otherwise we just would not do it. I have never gazed at a blank screen hoping for a thought or inspiration. Words can never be forced, we need to feel the urge to write and then the words flow. I enjoyed reading about your story here Jay and I hope I am around for the next update! Ha ha ha, keep up the good work, love Dolly x
