Hi Rod, this is a well written and very readable poem. Good abcb rhyme and rhythm maintained throughout. Nice descriptive piece and I can identify with the following two lines, because that is exactly what I do, eager to see what has survived the winter -

She'll scratch the earth and scrutinize
each swatch of greenish growth she sees,

A very well written Ekphrastic poem.. Thank you for posting. Regards Dorothy

A very well-written poem about a grandma with a gardener's heart who cannot wait for Spring to be able to work in her garden and see the beautiful flowers and plants grow again.

A very nicely written verse. Well rhymed, well told.
I remember my grandmother in the garden as well. I wonder how much of the love of the soil we are loosing with everyone's busy lives today.
Thank you for sharing this.

That's a loving tribute to your grandmother, which she is sure to appreciate. The illustration may not be of her, but it's a very good depiction of the woman you described.

I am delighted you enjoyed my nostalgic tribute to Grandma. Do you recall when women gardened in dresses? Many thanks for sharing this one. Rod

    You're very welcome, Rod.
I didn't witness much gardening in New York, but I do remember when women wore dresses just about all the time, except in the bathtub.

I have always had a black thumb. My husband also. We get plants from people, followed directions to the letter, but the plants all die. Maybe we needed to pet the leaves and talk to them. Good job. Thank you for sharing
