Thank you, Roy!! This book's target audience is a bit older, so a little more literary technique, I hope!!
Oh, and no witches and werewolves, but if can't promise there won't be any other strange creatures show up. Haha!

Great beginning! I really like the description of the prairie, the sights and smells and the analogy to the ocean. I didn't know deer would be on the prairie. Good way to introduce the main characters and set the scene with an intriguing start!

Thank you so much for the review! Strangely enough, deer are found there. I actually had a similar experience where one ran right in front of our truck and we almost hit it. It was so close I could see the individual hairs on its back. I had the same reaction where I was wondering how it got there.
