This deserved six stars, I just love the play of words in this poem. What a nice way to learn English in poetic lines infused with wit and humor as the words baffle us, especially we, the non native speakers. Bravo, I love this. God bless.

Wow, such a generous 6 star review! That is truly an honor, my friend. I'm glad you liked the poem as much as we had fun writing it.Thanks for the feedback on its usefulness for a non native speaker. I continue to be impressed by the level of writing from many of you who are non native speakers. I hesitate to think what I would produce in a new language. Bravo! to you.

I find my self both bemused and amused.
I grew up with english and am forever confused.
I think this poem should be on an English teachers wall in school.
Great reading, funny too/two/to?

A very delightful play on the the English language in this cleverly crafted poem. Im sure all those things do drive those just learning crazy. I've written similar pieces. I also done some on words that have the identical sounds but are spelled differently. You touched on many.
How about: whole, soul, coal, roll, bowl, control. That five different way to make the sane sound. I loved your rendition.

Thank you so much, and I'm glad you have chosen the same idea for a poem as well. This began as an idea from Fez as he is a bit of a language buff, I'm sure, since he speaks at least three that I know of. Language is a wonderful tool, is it not?

This is so clever, it deserves six, but alas, I haven't got one, it must have taken an age to compose, and one of the best I've ever seen, in nonsense poetry, not that it really ranks as nonsense, it's really very good! The meter is pretty darn good, the aabb rhyming is so good, I can't believe the cleverness of this, well donne er done, blessings, Roy.

Thanks so much, Roy, for your wonderful review, and as you've often told me, the review is all that's important. I always run out of 6 stars early in the week. Oh, well, people know how we feel. I'm sure a lot of what Fez writes is more familiar to you as he is a fellow countryman, but it is fun to travel outside your comfort zone to try new things, and meet new friends! As always, your opinion is important to me.

No, I've travelled the world, I think I am citizen of the world, I understand my own countrymen well, but know and have been to the US a lot too, so I feel at home with most nationalities, people don't differ much, we all have similar dreams and aspirations, God loves us all, He's not impressed by nationality, nor am I, love people, Rhonda, blessings, Roy.

What a beautiful sentiment, and I truly believe you. I have not traveled much out of the US, except a few times to Mexico. This site has exposed me to a lot of people, and, like you said, they all seem much the same.

That's right, and God loves us all.

"...for strangers trying hard to learn a language not their own
thrown right in the deep end, or should that be spelled throne."
Ha-hah!
Hay, I couldn't agree Moore, you too. The English language can be a little trying at times to learn, theirs no doubts about it. You and Fez did a fantastic job at keeping up the grate cadence and rhythm of this epic length, poetic peace. It was a lot of fun to reed and review.
Excellent work. I guess the long and short of it is to try and stay away from those pesky homophones as much as humanely possible.

Nice response in kind, Dean, and how clever you are at jousting with words. You came up with some clever ones we missed, but, as you said, it was epic length already. Have to cut it off while its like the proverbial mini-skirt: short enough to be interesting, but long enough to cover the subject."
Thanks for the review and comments, as always, your opinion is valued mulch, ah much!

As a retired English teacher, I had to give you a six on this one. I have questioned the reason and rhyme of the English language many times, especially trying to teach it to my freshmen. :-)

Wow, thank you so much for the lovely and generous review! I am so happy to hear from an English teacher. This poem was the musings of amateurs (speaking for myself, of course). I love the play on words that is only possible with a complex language like English! Again, thanks for the incredible 6 star review! I was rather concerned about how it would be received as we all have our opinions on English usage!

Another fun poem guys! Love the play on all the words. I think the English language has to be one of the most confusing. I was definitely amused! Great job!

You're welcome! Fez was one of the first people I connected with on the site. He's a great person and yes, very talented too!

He's so sweet, and has had quite an interesting life. I'm glad he reaches out to us!

As a literacy volunteer tutoring those who can't speak English well, if at all, with all its quirks,English is the most difficult language to learn and you show this quite humorously. I will probably share this poem with a student.

Thank you so much, and what a wonderful service you provide for people who are learning English. I am a science teacher, and I know how valuable your service is. You are quite welcome to share it with your students. What an honor that would be.

The two of you work wonders weaving great story poems. I enjoy these pomes as a joint effort very much. I have a reviewer who many times will write poetry as a review in relationship to a work of mine. Patricia

Thank you so much, and I am surprised that two people from such vastly different cultures are able to work together and connect in order to make poetry that works. It's fun, though!
