solid use of abab rhyming
good alliteration in phrases like soul's soil
compelling tone in your political commentary
I like that you end with a call to action and don't just complain

Thanks, Brooke, I appreciate that. I almost didn't end it that way, but as I finished the first draft, I felt something was missing. That's when the last two stanzas were added.

Ahhhhh - creepy thoughts, Dean - but, in some cases, you might be right. I think my 6' 3" ex-husband had a beast within when he used to knock me 5' 2" - to the ground. Brutal abuse is something one never forgets - a thing of nightmares to me.

You are the King of dark poetry, my friend.
Had I a six it would be yours.

Thanks very much, Margaret. I'm grateful for the review. No one should have to suffer abuse at the hands of another, under any circumstances.
    Thanks again!

Hi Dean Kuch,

I'll forgive you for the rant, but not for the fact 'political correctness' was exported to the UK along with all the other baggage. I think all western governments are in the same parlous state now.

I read somewhere that there is an old Indian saying that we all have two wolves within. One good, one evil. We determine which one rules our actions by feeding the one at the expense of the other.

Good rant. And I'm just kidding about not forgiving ...

I don't blame you, Patrick, and I appreciate you sharing your thoughts with me on the subject. I also couldn't agree more.

Thanks for the excellent review, my friend!

I don't know about the moral compass, just that the true beast within, the great devourer, is greed or unchecked avarice. And no one is immune.

You've got that right, ravenblack. Absolutely no one is beyond reproach. Not priests nor pastors, and especially TV evangelists. Just give me your "love gift" for the month, and everything will work out OK. Yeah, right---sure it will!

A very sophisticated 'rant'. Dean.

I know little of American politics, but those you SEEM to be referring to are the greedy Conservatives who are so crafty with their propaganda and keeping the under-privileged 'down' while they grow even fatter themselves.

Maybe, being a Liberal, I'm seeing what's not there, and in fact you're referring to 'corrupt' politicians in general, and there sure are some of those in EVERY party.

Thanks for the interesting read.

Excellent!

Best wishes, Ted

Thank you for reading and reviewing it for me, Ted. And you are right, there's corruption on both sides of the aisle.
