NadineM, this is a piece that kept insisting on being written this morning after I had some bloodwork done at the doctor's office. It was written at a Chick Fil-A while I ate a chicken biscuit with one hand and wrote with the other. I am both humbled and honored at the reception it has received since I came home and posted it. Thank you so much for your kind words and exceptional rating. Love, Jan

Hi Rdfrdmom2. Very emotional, touching verse. One of the benefits of having some means of release---writing, painting, music, crafts----whatever, but some way to do it. Not IDing oneself, often will facilitate the effort. I like the verse and the message---the "reaching out" words you used. To be honest though, the rhyme scheme, to me, got a little too much "sing-songy". It distracted me somewhat. Remember please, my opinion.

since you are doing the review, it's your opinion that counts, my friend. Boberto, I'm the first to admit I do free verse much better than I do rhyming work. It started off rhyming so I felt I had to stick with it. Thanks for your insights and kind review. hope you are feeling better. love, jan

I have had the misfortune to deal with the crumbled personality left by the sex fiend we have labeled a pedophile.
I do not consider these molester of children to be sick. I would not feel guilty of giving a pedophile the death sentence for taking a productive life from a young person. Your poem has some merit. Thank you.

Those times you yearn to play and run

Participate in all the childhood fun

Stolen from you years ago

By a pedophile so vile and low

Thank you, c_lucas. I believe them to be incurable. This piece was one of those that began nagging at me and would not let me go until I stopped and put it on paper. Love, Jan

You're welcome, Jan. My mother, born in 1906, told us of an incident in her childhood. A child molester was locked in an outhouse and the building was burned. It was a very swift justice.

I would say that was similar to Turkish justice. Wow!

No, it was a group of angry fathers of both colors. Mother did not know if the Sheriff, or Judge was present.

Such a beautifully written poem that is sure to give encouragement and comfort to those suffering from a lost childhood due to abuse.
I almost feel guilty in saying that I had a wonderful childhood with two great parents. But I have a deep compassion for those who didn't.

A great write.

EllenV, please don't feel guilty. There are reasons for everything that happens in life. If I could change my childhood, I wouldn't, because I know it all worked together to make me who I am now, and that's just fine. Thanks for your review and comments. This piece was one of those that began nagging at me and would not let me go until I stopped and put it on paper. Love, Jan

This is a very deep topic that has been tackled rather gracefully. It has dark undertones, and is a bold attempt to be soothing. Good work.

very good poem, with a simple rhyming pattern which does not detract from the message of the poem. you offer very good words here... important words...words many need to hear deep in their souls. thanks for putting them together in a beautiful way. david

Very well said. Great imagery to help even the unaffected reader relate to the ever prevalent problem of abuse. You captured the essence of what a child things and feels after the experience of being violated. Kudos!
As a reviewer, there is nothing I can add or take away from this work. It is great as is! Thanks for sharing.
Blessings, Chariss

My dear Jan,

This is a gorgeous tribute to Megs's (lol) plight, her struggle with lack of support, her courage to reach out to others, and her future growth as a woman. I feel that Megs will prevail victorious in this quest and my hat is off to you for your unrelenting devotion and friendship to this fine young woman. This six star review is for both you and she.

I love you both,
Penny
