You always use such captivating photos and media to complement your work. I lived close to Michigan in my youth (Northern Ohio) and loved the spring and fall up there.

What a beautiful rhyming poem for the amazing Northern Michigan nature. We have a place on Lake Superior and visit one week per month. We saw woodpeckers, blue jays, mountain ashes (red berries) and the back of a bear. I do write many poems about nature, too.
Well done.

Hi,
What a great poem. I aspire to be as good as you one day. I struggle with rhyming or deep thought provoking lines like you have throughout this poem. The imagery is awesome.

Hello, Cecllia!
I am honored by your exceptional rating and complimentary review.
I imagine that I am far older that you but know for a certainty that I often "struggle with rhyming or deep thought-provoking lines" at times as well! Writing is just a journey... one that I've been on all of my life.
Thank you again!
fondly,

Hi Diane,
You are great at it and it doesn't look like you struggle (haha) I am up there in years myself and I have always loved poetry and creative writing. Life sent me in different directions and now that I'm retired I can focus on my passion again.

What a glorious little journey you take us on here, Diane! Every stanza is a little snapshot in time and a joy to read especially when so beautifully illustrated. We see nature in all its simplicity and wonder (the Northern Flicker is absolutely stunning) and are enchanted by the sweet, meditative commentary guiding us along to its very gratifying conclusion. Thank you for sharing. Take care Debbie

Hello, Debbie!
I am honored by your exceptional rating and thoughtful review.
But I must share that the thought crossed my mind after I read your Stephen King's tribute that I surely hope I don't meet up with one of his characters along "pathways wide!" He often scares the "you know what out of me" and my woods are very dense = just the kind of place one might meet up with the likes of Mr. King and Co!
Thank you again!

Oh no! The last thing you want is a Jack Torrance rant interrupting the peace and tranquility!

So true!

Hi Diane,
This is a well done poem about the variety of nature's beauty one can see on a walk. I like the way you include sounds as well as sights. That fox seems to be watching you carefully to make sure you are safe.
You illustrate your poem well with both photos and videos.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Have a great up coming week.
Congrats on this being the top ranked poem

Hello, Nicki!
I am very honored by your exceptional rating and thoughtful review.
Indeed, I share your perspective. Autumn in northern Michigan this year has just been glorious. And just between the two of us, I have ventured on to "pathways wide" time and again the past few weeks just to make sense of our world...
Much appreciation, Nicki!
Thank you!

You're welcome Diane, getting out in nature is a wonderful way to help you physically and emotionally. I'm glad your feeling good xx

Well, the big dog strikes again. This is one of the finest poems about fall I have ever read. Of course, if a big dog had been with you. It would have been a completely different kind of walk. But even so, if you wrote a poem about the walk with a big dog, I suspect the imagery would be just as wonderful.

Hah!
Mr. TB!
You are too much!
Now, you need to know that a beloved Shetland Sheepdog, aka Buddy, and equally beloved Golden Retriever, aka Gus, once "owned me." How they both loved to go on "pathways wide" with me. But then again, so did our incredibly fluffy ginger feline, Dickens, - although he also had a tendency to meander on his own - looking for sunspots to snooze away the afternoon hours - towards the end of his life when he was a tad bit disoriented and suffering from old age. (My husband would always rescue him, and that is a story in itself, as the homes in our neighborhood are all located in wooded areas!)
At any rate, autumn this year has been glorious and just what this "Big Dog" has needed on a number of occasions for "sweet release" from the world around her!
Thank you for your exceptional rating and delightful review!
Much appreciation!
fondly,
diane

A beautifully written poem and appreciation of the things around you, of course the things that surround us here aren't quite, but we've travelled extensively and seen a thousand sunsets, this is a beautifully written post Diane, how do you get the images in the middle of verses, well done, blessings Roy

Hello, Roy!
So pleased you enjoyed.
Autumn has been not only glorious this year, but restorative as well.
Here are the directions for posting a photo in the middle of verses - compliments originally from Julie Helms:
You need to go to an image hosting site, where you upload your personal picture, and they attach a URL to it. There are tons of these sites (they are free, and you don't have to make an account with them), but I've been using:
Postimages.org
Screenshots:
Click on Choose Image. they'll ask you to choose from your photo library.
You want Direct Link, click on clipboard on right
Go to your article, edit box, put cursor where you want photo, then choose the icon I circled
Paste into the URL box. Then fix width as it will be way too big. I start at 200. Hit OK.
There it is!
Hope this helps!
Thank you again!

I think just stepping outside and experiencing nature is enough to help calm our minds and let the worries that we have drift away for a few moments. Your writing was so well done in this piece and I could really see everything you were describing. An excellent piece.

I would have loved to have gone on this walk with you. Thank you for sharing it with us and the descriptions are priceless. In our neighborhood, we have plenty of Blue Jays, fox and woodpeckers.
