I thought Walt Whitman was the father of American free verse. It's funny I've been reviewed by a fanstory Scot who is quite dour, he describes my poetry as being "archaic" but as a poor student of any poetry, I've only read biblical forms, some English and Australian, but this is such a good site to learn. Sorry to harp on your such a good free verse poet, I find it difficult to get the metronome out of my head, bless Roy,

I stand corrected! You are correct, Walt Whitman IS considered the father of American free verse with his Leaves of Grass and other free verse poems.

e e cummings is associated with modernist free-form poetry. Much of his work has idiosyncratic syntax and uses lower-case spellings for poetic effect.

I have since corrected my author?s notes. Thank you for catching that important point. I should have known better.
