I didn't know this song and had to google it. :) Poor you - with a lovely mug that you won't use! I don't suppose it has a battery you can remove? Thanks for the smiles.

No; somehow, it's built into that cup! (I guess so it can survive the dishwasher.

Nostalgic and relatable. Engaging and well written. No - you are not a traitor to your culture. You are an artist ... and artists, to preserve their identity, can be lonely.

Yes, I'm a lonely dreydl-hating artist!
Thanks for the review! xo

This is lovely story about digging yourself a deep musical hole and having to climb out of it.
I can find nothing that I would change.
You waste no words. You stay on track. You build up to the highlight and tie it up humourously. Well done.

Hilariously Funny! This is indeed a charming and endearing narrative. Your readers will definitely appreciate the lessons learned by the teacher! Once again Rachelle you took me back. My sister was mad about a song called "Moments In Love." She played that song until all I wanted was to run screaming from the house! There were no lyrics only abstract sounds in a monotonous rhythmic pattern. To this day whenever I hear it I turn off the radio or leave the room. If I could I would probably ban it from the airwaves! Lol Very Well Written! Very Well Done!

Now I am dying to go on youtube and find that annoying song - I have never heard it (so WHAT if I'm not Jewish). Cute story... "Spectacular" was a good replacement for what you would have preferred to say as you smashed the mug against the far wall.
tiny omission:
four weeks later, I had go(t) to that Safe Place

Priceless! I suffered years of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star when our two children were learning the violin, so have some idea what you mean. I also have one or two gifts from students that have found good homes in the furthest recesses of drawers and cupboards!
