I think this is a good message for the Rhyming Poem writing prompt.
Your verse flows smoothly through the stanzas, keeping the story flowing.
Well done and good luck to you with the competition.

An epic write and wonderfully written wreath of sonnets, not on word wasted and a joy to read, and the last is an acrostic aswell! A masterpiece and deserves a six, but I'm all out, love Dolly x

A monumental effort, Tony, with great results. Even though this is lengthy, due to style, it reads well. The sonnets are connected well. The smooth flow is evident, the acrostic in the final sonnet proves how well the others are composed. Otherwise, the final one would not 'fit.' Great job. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Very many thanks, Jan, for taking the time to read this lengthy sequence. I appreciate your kind response. I started with the final sonnet and worked backwards from there. All the best, Tony

Interesting you seem to tell a continuing story of the path through life. I expected the sonnets to be completely different topic as that would be the challenge of repeating the last line. It resonated with me on some level.

A very long but incredibly well written sonnets here. I could get lost in the words and imageries, the rhymes and rhythms of your work.
But we are apt to cut the bloom of youth,
assuming that in time it grows again,
then seasons pass, and winter brings its grey.
Next spring's not ours to own. We feel the ruth.
The days are gone, and we regret in vain,
declaiming former thoughts, a dried bouquet.
Excellent and deserving of a six, which I no longer have.

Admit it, your brain was hurting by stanza 8, and it was pure grit (and an endlessly resourceful muse) that drove you on to finish this intimidating sonnet cycle. I don't know where you found all those (always apt) rhymes, but I do know how difficult is was to make them seem effortless and natural and have them tie into the larger themes of your piece. Brilliant, brilliant work, my friend. I loved the probing philosophical weave that ran through the sonnets. And the mythological content is always welcome. That final acrostic flourish made our collective jaws drop. Not the easiest of poems to digest--it demands focus and stamina from the reader--but definitely the easiest six stars I've given in a while. Bravo!

Thanks for your kind words and six stars, Mercury. Yes, it was an intricate undertaking and by the halfway stage I was certainly beginning to falter. The contents of the trash bin were accumulating fast! I have made a few minor changes in hindsight, after considering some of the advice of other reviewers.Best wishes, Tony
