Sis Cat: excellent thoughts about beer and the amber
rays of grain. I do like your break, AHA moment. Hope
you had some full bottles to drink while watching Eagles
win tonight. Our Vikings lost - painful. Fun game.

Alas, Nancy, I do not drink, but I do drink in the sights. When I took a walk yesterday and saw empty beer bottles in a kitchen window, I quaffed an idea for this poem. I'm glad you like the "amber rays of grain" line. Thank you for your review.

"empty beer bottles", is short, succinct and very much to the point. This talented poet's work was a pleasure to both read and review. I look forward to seeing your next post.

Oh, thank you, Duchess, for your generous review. I surprised myself with how my poem came together. I took a walk yesterday with pen and notebook in hand when I saw beer bottles in a kitchen window. They sparked this poem. Thanks.

An original angle on the ubiquitous beer bottle - a lovely atmospheric Tanka reflecting on the humble beer bottle and its more 'artistic' qualities - nice visual

Oh, thank you, Zanya, for your affirming review of the visuals of my poem. During my walk yesterday when I saw beer bottles in a kitchen window, I could not get that visual out of my imagination, and I wrote this poem by the time I returned from my walk.

Hello SisCat
clever tanka about empty bottles on the window sill makes me smile recalling the fun
Lyrics from the song 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall.

Oh, thank you, Gert, for your generous, six star review. My tanka inspired Dean to recall the same song, too. I'm glad my poem made you smile.

Beer that leads to nothing else leads to obesity, high blood pressure and gout.
Yet the club and the suds were a good crutch for isolated duty stations...I am
not into Tanka science, but this looks excellent to me.

Thank you, LIJ Red, for your review. Yes, beer leads to all of these woes. Given that I saw empty bottles in a kitchen window two days ago, I did not want to speculate on whether or not the person who put them there was an alcoholic, a casual drink, or a beer connoisseur. I report what I saw and imagined the bottles from the vantage point within the kitchen. Thanks.

Your poem is well written and you used good alliteration of b, letters, and words to start your poem off nicely. I like the visual picture you painted with your descriptive words and your artwork choice enhances your message.

Oh, thank you, Angel, for your review. I was unaware that I used alliteration. I saw empty beer bottles in a kitchen window two days ago and wrote this poem about them during a two hour walk. I then found a complimentary picture for my poem. Thanks.

This one that I wish was longer because I liked it so much. it didn't need to be longer, but I was enjoying it so much. Great work here.

Loved "Amber rays of grain."

Well done.

Yes, ScarletAfflictions, an early version of "amber rays of grain" appeared in the draft of my poem I wrote over the course of two hours after I saw beer bottles in a kitchen window. That surreal line fits. Thank you for your review.

A great Tanka verse. I could just see the colors from the glass making patterns on your wall. Thanks for sharing this with us and good luck on the Tanka Poetry contest.

The image of the empty beer bottles says much to those passing by. "Amber rays of grain" is a clever line, it makes the reader think. Excellent tanka that is full of emotion.
