That was wonderful, Dean, or should I call you Poe? To have written this poem in mono-rhyme is incredible, you would easily have won this contest too. The amazing thing is, you didn't falter at all, it read beautifully, and I love the olde English style, suited it perfectly. A pleasure to read. xsx sandra

My sincere thanks to you, Sandra, I really appreciate that!
No, I'm far from being Poe. I can only aspire to the greatness he achieved. But, it sure doesn't hurt to try, right? :)

That is what it is all about, Dean. I think you really are on the right track! xx

Indeed you may be a ghost of Poe but I enjoy your poetry more than I ever did Poe. You did a great job Dean with the monosyllable rhymes. You must have used every word that rhymes with Poe. I have trouble rhyming more than 2 words - lol.

A lot of members have said much the same thing, Teresa. But I've read quite a bit of your work, and I believe you could manage just fine, my friend.:)
Thanks for the awesome review. Much obliged.

Stunning presentation and exceptional rhyming with great descriptions. I enjoyed reading it to no end and the music in the background was an added touch. Thank you for sharing.

An artist chained to the spirit
of powerful influences,
invaded by the confluence
of horror and suspense.
A cowl he wears so comfortably
yet sometimes fights against
bidding spirit fly thee hence
but never really means it.
Behold the poet squirming -
(me thinks he doth protest too much -
I see his loving clutch)
and bowing in allegiance.
;-)
Nicely done :-)

Wow, Lorraine. That's an amazing piece of poetry you have written in response, and so adequately conveys the gist of how I feel much of the time.
Thanks for the exceptional review, and if they gave us sixes to award reviewers, you would have sure earned one. But, I can do something to show my appreciation. :)
Thanks again.

Your usual unique and brilliantly entertaining presentation package, Deano.
Mind you, when the music started, I jumped out my skin, as I thought I was being hooted by a non-existent car in my lounge. LOL.
Top tale, and BRILLIANT alliteration throughout.
VERY spooky atmosphere as the crow leads you to the depths - I'm hoping a hummingbird or butterfly will do the same for me. LOL
Meter is out in a lot of lines, but what readers will care apart from nit-picky me. :-)
I reckon Poe was a probably a gentle great bloke who just liked to shock and entertain - just like you do so successfully, my very talented friend.
All the best, Ray.

Thanks so much, Ray. I really appreciate those fine comments, and the review, my good friend.
I hope your birthday was a blast! :D
Deano~

It was great thanks, Deano.
Luckily I wasn't effected by the 'blast', as my sisters provided a bunker where I could shelter from incoming 'smart missiles' from a few on my 'intelligent' fanstory 'admirers'. LOL.
Cheers, Ray

Another dark poem but but delightful in the way it is presented. Those other contestants might be happy you were late since they know their future would be dim for you would have certainly won.
Excellent rhythm and rhyme and I see you have confessed that Allan Poe is your muse

Thanks, emrpoems, and that's what I've been told. I only know that someone (or something) haunts be constantly, day and night, to write the things I do. If not Poe, the who? Inquiring minds would like to know -- namely me! LOL
Thanks for the wonderful review. :)

You are correct...your writing is very reminiscent of The Master Poe. I like how you used the crow to take your soul as in some cultures the crow is the guide to the "other world". I love your descriptions of the scene both inside his room and out! I will bookcase this one!!!

Well done, Dean. Not many people can get away with this claim, but it's certainly justifiable for you. A creepy and intriguing read. Hope the cardiologist's appointment went well.
