Oh, good 5-7-5. I'm sure respect for him soon spiked. LOL. Who wants their head on a pole! I'd wash his feet if I were them. :P. Good work. I'm not sure why I'm not a fan yet, but that comes right after this post. ~ Rose

Vlad was a "heads up" man. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read. Good luck in your contest.

oooh aaaaah, I wonder who this could be ... hmmmm ... let me think about that for a moment ... I'd use a possessive after enemies though ... i.e. staked enemies' heads on poles - would be grammatically correct, yes dear??

Thanks, 'V'. I left all punctuation out of it, as it was a 5-7-5. I felt if I punctuated some of it, then I'd have to do it all. I was taught, senryu, haiku and 5-7-5's are traditionally not punctuated, hence the omission.
Thanks for the great review, my friend. Much obliged!
-
punctuation is different from grammar my dear - a possessive 's' is a grammatical point I believe???
-
Ya' know, you do have a point there, LOL.

Thanks, Beth, I really appreciate the more than kind review. I wish everyone had this much enthusiasm about it, it may have won the contest then. Much obliged for the review.

I love your music accompaniment... it certainly lent atmosphere. You write about a difficult time in history. Attitudes were different and certainly values where greatly different, as you say in your poem. A head on a stake apparently was an achievement... ugh! Great presentation, good luck.

Thanks very much, Giddy, I truly appreciate that. As far as the contest gore, I'm losing by one vote, with less than an hour to go, so... maybe better luck next time for me.

This is a nice descriptive 5-7-5 poem for the contest about Vlad the Impaler. Has the correct syllable count for each line. Nice picture to go with the poem.

Watch out for Vlad. Wonderful presentation in words and artwork. Creative play on words, especially the closing line. Best of luck in the contest.

I really appreciate the outstanding review.

Last I checked this piece was doing very well. Even tho' this is blind entry, I think I can guess who the author is. Guess I'll see in the morning when the results are posted.
-
Behind by a single vote! Only two hours of voting left to go...
-
Oh the tortuous wee hours of the morning when the results will be posted. Considering the topic, the witching hours in the dead of the night seems like the perfect time for the decision to be made on this one. Looks like it is close there at the top.
-
It's a very close race, for sure!
-
So close, Dean. You had my vote. But you live to write an even better horror story today.
Happy haunting until your next post.

Great ending to this 5-7-5 (spiked) lol. Awesome presentation! (and I'm betting I'm correct on the name of this mystery writer because of it, lol ; ) I couldn't recall the exact connection between Dracula and Vlad, although I knew there was one, so I went and checked it out. Man, that dude was vicious! Unique take on the prompt. A lot of times I read, vote, then review and you are doing great in the polls. Hope it keeps going! Out of sixers. xx
