What an amazing player Larry Bird, most sportsman I know that played sport came from a sporting household, I didn't, but I thought that school was for learning and out working one's sporting career, I played anything from tiddly winks to football and cricket, I retired at forty and never regretted one moment of playing, well done, it gets in one's blood, beautifully written Harry, blessings Roy

What an amazing player Larry Bird, most sportsman I know that played sport came from a sporting household, I didn't, but I thought that school was for learning and out working one's sporting career, I played anything from tiddly winks to football and cricket, I retired at forty and never regretted one moment of playing, well done, it gets in one's blood, beautifully written Harry, blessings Roy

I grew up watching Larry Bird play basketball. He was one of the greats. He, and those who played, during that time period gave basketball a great name. Much different than today. Thank you for sharing this tribute to Larry Bird with us. Congratulations on your 100 milestone post.

HI, Harry, and I'm a fellow Hoosier living in Terre Haute, IN. However, my husband and I were living in MA during Larry Bird's years of playing for the Celtics. I don't know whether you've seen the museum they've opened in his honor Terre Haute. Another tidbit you might be interested in--Bird owned a restaurant called the Boston Connection here in Terre Haute. I was sad when it closed, because the food was delicious. Great details about Larry Bird in your article. judi
