This is a fun poem about retirement. I suppose it would really change the perspective on Mondays. I like the rhyme scheme. It adds to the playfulness. And the play on "hump day" with the camel is fun, too.

-Good artwork and nice presentation, Debi.
-You have used your 20 syllables well with a good topic.
-Effective imagery and rhyme.
-Hump Day was a big thing when I was teaching.
-But as your poem says, when retired,
you don't have to think about it, and have fun, too!
-A good entry, good luck!

You know, Debi, that's what I missed most about Retirement. The sense of nothing pending ahead, that no matter how bad the weather is, you don't have to get out, and sleeping as late as you want, all of these make me miss it. So, why did I unretire and go back to teaching? I guess there's just a sucker in every crowd.

Excellent post, my friend. I love that artwork, lol.

Hugs,
Rhonda

The problem is, Debi, I might have to retire again to take care of Wayne. We'll have to see how he progresses physically and mentally. As of right now, they are saying he'll need taking care of. However, he's already ahead of the healing curve!
    Love you, lady!

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. It's cute and creative. I tend to be so busy that I'm considering retiring from retirement. I'm supposed to have free time. I haven't discovered free time yet. LOL Good luck with the contest.

You are so darn right. For us, every day is hump day. We struggle to get out of bed, we struggle to remember why it is even worth getting out of bed. We struggle to remember if we took our medicine today or was it yesterday? We struggle over some things, but it is never about pleasing some idiot who thinks that he is our boss. This of course, does not include our children who are trying to keep us alive and with them for a long as possible. Them, we obey even if we don't really want to.

Oh, isn't that the truth, Nomi. My kids have become the parent to me. They even know how to scold and I finally said no to that. I still have my mind, even if I don't have my physical health. Inside my head and my heart I am as healthy as a 22 year old. And I thank you for your sweet review and words, my awesome big brother.
Lotsa love and many hugs, big bro. Debi

LOL Great one, Debi. The picture is hysterical. This poem proves the point that some things about growing older are better than others. Thanks for sharing.

This work has reached the exceptional level

Do you recall the Geico commercials with the camel lip-sinking-
Happy Hump Daaaaay

You brought a smile to my face (as you normally do).

Great post. Thank you for sharing with us all.

Hi John, thanks so very much for this wonderful review and love your comments. But wow, six stars for twenty syllables. Thank you!
    You are awesome.

But somehow this is the kind of poem that would make you smile because we have the same sense of humor. Thank you for that, dear brother.
    Thanks again John. Love, Debi

Very true for most seniors. I like the premise that they are free to enjoy each day. They should. They've paid their dues, now it's time to relax. The photo was great. Those damn camels!
