I enjoyed this review of doctors you've had experiences with. I've noticed the nationality of doctors has changed over the years. I have several specialists changed with my care. Two are Indian, one is Asian, and my GP and rheumatologist are both Hispanic woman. Times have changed. Plus, I agree with the importance of your final statement. Even though I have supplemental insurance, I like to know if Medicare is acceptable.
Thank you for your humorous, but realistic commentary on doctors.

Lorraine, thank you for your review. Terry.

I am not much into doctors -- only see them when there is no other choice. So for a story about doctors to keep me involved from word one to the last word is an exceptional story, exceptionally presented. Well done. I enjoyed and learned from the post. The humor is in all the right places and certainly the close out was one I -- and many of our fellow fanstorians - identified with. A great job.
I saw one spag: The doctor's race.... I suggest that the subject is plural and should be written as: The doctors' race..... Am I missing something there?

Ann, thank you for the six stars. I know you had enough experiences with doctors, and like you, I hate to be in the system, but if we are, it's to know that they are good at what they do.
Thanks for catching the spag. Terry.

Yes, as we age Medicare becomes very important.
I would say you are in pretty go shape for the shape
they said you were in. LOL A little sick humor there. "You have a condition called CVID, or Common Variable Immune Deficiency."] isn't it amazing how similar the word for this condition is to COVID? HMMMM. Well done. Nancy:)

I decided to award your story six instead of the five I originally intended. What you said about the doctor's looks hit me where I live. I admire beauty wherever I encounter it, but I am much more concerned with my doctor's skill than I am with their appearance. If she looks like a beauty queen but cannot help me medically, she is not going to be my doctor for long. I will fire a doctor quickly if I feel that they are not fit to be my MD.

Nomi, thank you for the additional star! Your point is well made, competence is the most important factor. Tery.

Your story hits all the markers. You completely engage the reader(me), you give us information, you make us laugh on several occasions, and you pull out nostalgic moments for us to go oooooh over.
Top-notch work. Well, you are from Texas after all!

Karen, thank you for the six review! I do know you have had your fill of doctors too. But I'm delighted you laughed. Terry.

Good for you, Terry! You see past the ethnicity and religion and the gender and all that other crap and see the person treating you as your family doctor instead.
I love your examples and you make valid points about the changes in the world today.
I like the changes and it appears from this post that so do you.

Jesse, thank you for the six stars. I know you have your share of medical experience as well, and the real issue is their ability to take care of the people they see. A little humor helps too. Terry.

Yes, humor goes a long way.

My goodness, Terry!
You sure do have a menagerie of issues. I'm happy as I believe you are, that none of them presented any danger to your health which is astounding if one puts them into context.
Great piece! Best, JohnC

I read along with you about the doctors. We had some similar experiences. All of my doctors were white men until now. Dr. Goyle is my doctor also and my rheumatologist is a woman from India. The times have changed! Thanks for sharing. Sarah

I enjoyed this walk down doctor's of my past. I have never trusted doctors in the past, but now working in the pharmacy, I see how many mistakes they make. Of course, they aren't all huge mistakes but mistakes nonetheless. But I gave you this six not only for this engaging piece but the last line about finding a doctor who takes Medicare. That was priceless. Lol. Gretchen

Gretchen, thank you for the six stars. I'm glad you enjoyed the story. Yesterday I had lunch with Fanstorians: davisr(Rhonda), Annmuma, and Sarah Robin. We talked about our favorite novelists, and you and Miranda came up. Terry.
-
The stories about me have been greatly exaggerated. Lol. I do appreciate this compliment though. I just published my short book Coffee With Iris. How are your book sales going?
-
The book is doing some presales. I will not know how well until the end of the first quarter of next year. I will get your new book.
-
I just ordered your book. Can't wait to see it in person. And I will definitely post it on my Facebook site and Instagram.

Thank you, Gretchen!

Even with age your levity remains, as noted in your closing sentence.
I had an A-fib event 12 years ago. ONe ting led to the next and I had a double. Bypass, that is, not bourbon, which was my favorite booze, until I became a Latter-Day Saint in 83. That's when I became a teetotaler, but I don't drink tea either.
In any event we have both been blessed. I suspect my purpose for being hasn't been fulfilled sufficiently to become a celestial soul.
A picture of Dr Goyle would be great.
