The tone and the atmosphere is set by the opening lines. Good description of the scenery. Good transition between the events. Clear dialogue that express the emotions of the characters. Nice steady and intense pace leading to a conclusion that leaves me wanting to read more.

You have such a knack, Bev, for building up the suspense and having your reader want more. As always, your excellent use of description and dialogue really helps to keep the reader engaged. I wish that, for once, I could offer some good constructive criticism, but what's to criticize? Nothing! Keep up the good work, my friend.
Hugs,
Connie

Well, you've done it again, Bev - I honestly don't know how this could be any better. You've a cliff hanger ending to this chapter again, and it's full of rich description, authentic-sounding dialogue, lots of action and suspense and it moves along at a breath-taking pace - riveting.

This is a most exceptional reading experience. It was completely engaging and moved along at a perfect pace in terms of action and dialog. You add some really wonderful touches in your writing like the dimensions of the hole being '666'. Nicely done and I thank you so much for sharing this with me.

Hi, Bev. As usual, this is such good writing. I have missed your good stuff, believe me.
"Edward Pearce grunted with every blow of his shovel blade (Excellent opening hook, Bev. Atta girl!
Your imagery and dialogue throughout are sparkling. I think you are ready, my friend. (If my opinion means anything) LOL
One suggestion:
"out of the half-dug hole." For some reason, this sounds a bit awkward...perhaps extra words would help here..like "out of the hole he'd been digging" or something like that. Know what I mean?

Thank you so much, Bob. What a gracious and encouraging review. Your suggestion is a very good one, and I am off to make the changes. I've got the summer planned to work with Rama Devi to edit. The early chapters are rough, and as you know well, that's important when seeking publication.
Again, thanks so much, my friend.
Hugs, Bev

I think you are going in the right direction for sure, Bev. I asked Rama to help me, by looking over a couple of chapters and my query letter. Little did I know she charges for such things. I wasn't aware it was a business with her. Please do not tell her I told you or vice versa that we discussed. Blessings. Bob

Hi, Bob. I won't mention a thing about it. She does do it for a business, but I think she's very reasonable compared to those I've seen from other sources. Still, with a long novel like mine, I'm planning on it costing me several thousand dollars. That's not chump change! The good part is that she's got good insights and instincts. Brooke (adewpearl) also does editing. Charlie Lucas likes working with her. Just food for thought. I'm sure you are well in control of your situation. :)

Hi, Bev.
What an amazing chapter. I could feel the tension as Ty confronted Edward Pearce. Your imagery of the vision Edward saw of Billy is excellent. You tied up the reasons behind his murderous revenge and his hopes squashed in minutes.
Again you left me breathless waiting to read what comes next. What an exciting read!!!! Awesome chapter, my friend!
Bye
Hugs

Hi Bev,
Wowee, as fast as they catch up with one element of this trail of murder, the being behind it slips away again into the night. Pearce is dead, but the creature behind will, methinks, need a bit more than a sprinkle of Holy Water and some prayers to shift it.

Along the Jericho Road 'Sota Moon, Part .1' This is another wonderful chapter you have created here. I try to find something I can correct, but am unable to fault your work. Well done.
