My la six Dean and you deserve I
Like you notes about the existence of witches
You poem shows the fears I had when I was a child, no wonder I didn't desire to go outside
The best part of your poem- last stanza
Have Fun

Ahh a scary, creepy concoction designed to give us goosebumps Dean.. and very effective if I may say so. You've got a great Halloween poem here. If I can make a suggestion about the presentation...on the first two verses, the green text was too much of the same color of green as the background. I think it might be better if you either made the green on the text a little lighter and not 'bold' or make it darker where it could be more easily read... just on the first two are the only one I noticed it. I thought your comments on witches was interesting. I've always wondered what the difference in a good witches or a bad with was, and if not from a Satanic power, where do witches supposedly gain their power of 'witchcraft'?
Good write. and appropriate for Halloween!

Thanks a bunch, pick. I really appreciate it.
Yeah, I noticed the clash with the greens between fonts and background as well. And, try as I might, that was about the best I could get it, short of changing those particular lines to black font, which looked terrible!
Thanks again!

Such a cheery little poem. I especially like the bit about the werewolves. Slicked back hair would do it for me! This was an entertaining read and good to recite to my daughter, who loves Halloween. Thanks for posting another great poem. Is that the image for Wicked? Just wondering.

Thanks so much for the great review, TJ! I hope your daughter, if she should read it, likes it as much as you did, LOL.
The pic, no, but it was definitely inspired by that photo. You can see the obvious similarities.
Thanks again, Twi, and Happy Halloween to you and yours!

Same to you, Dean. Sweet Sambaing to you and yours. I love Wicked, by the way and both pics are awesome.

Dean, this is written well with connective parts that make a convincing whole, along with your notes. I think that the appearance of witchcraft is in the OT when King Saul consults with the Witch of Endor. Interestingly enough, Scriptures also say that "Rebellion is the sin of witchcraft". So those in that kind of rebellion are going against the God of the Bible in whatever form or alliance they may make. :0 GracieAnn

You are absolutely right, Gracie Ann. The Bible denounces all forms of witchcraft and sorcery as an abomination in the eyes of God. There are several places in the bible that make mention of the black arts. Remember when King Nebuchadnezzar asks David to interpret his dreams in 2 Daniel? In the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; his mind was troubled and he could not sleep. 2 So the king summoned the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologers[a] to tell him what he had dreamed. When they came in and stood before the king, 3 he said to them, â??I have had a dream that troubles me and I want to know what it means.[b]â??
4 Then the astrologers answered the king,[c] â??May the king live forever! Tell your servants the dream, and we will interpret it.â??
5 The king replied to the astrologers, â??This is what I have firmly decided: If you do not tell me what my dream was and interpret it, I will have you cut into pieces and your houses turned into piles of rubble. 6 But if you tell me the dream and explain it, you will receive from me gifts and rewards and great honor. So tell me the dream and interpret it for me.â??
7 Once more they replied, â??Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will interpret it.â??
8 Then the king answered, â??I am certain that you are trying to gain time, because you realize that this is what I have firmly decided: 9 If you do not tell me the dream, there is only one penalty for you. You have conspired to tell me misleading and wicked things, hoping the situation will change. So then, tell me the dream, and I will know that you can interpret it for me.â??
10 The astrologers answered the king, â??There is no one on earth who can do what the king asks! No king, however great and mighty, has ever asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or astrologer. 11 What the king asks is too difficult. No one can reveal it to the king except the gods, and they do not live among humans.â??...
So, witchery has been around a long, long time!

Yes, another good example laced with stern warnings. :0 GracieAnn

Hi Dean Kuch,
A good exposition of the shenanigans that now surround the celebration of All Saints Tide. The old religions believed this was a night that the world of men, and the realm of the heavens converged - a position that Christianity adopted when Aristotilean philosophy got mixed into the early theology.
Whether one calls it Samhain or All Saints, matters not a jot.

For every action there is a reaction, we are all responsible for the out come of what happens around us and to us. Seek and you shall find it in Salem, Mass. DON'T GO THERE ALONE

Owwww I'm not going out at all...
have the goodies and the silver here,
and if no one comes (hopefully) we'll
have to eat the goodies.
Great poem, Dean - and such creepy sounds --
someone's got the wind.

Hah, thank you, Margaret. I don't plan on going out, either. Probably just sit right here, hacking away on my laptop, as usual, LOL.
Thanks for the great review!

This is a very interesting poem. The tone is appropriate to the subject matter. The word choice is strong. I liked the Author's notes, very informative.
