We saw small goannas when we were in Australia, but we also saw a big one as we were traveling south from Cairns. It came out of the bush, onto the road, but doubled back and went right back into the bush. (I'm assuming it was a goanna, anyway, as it was about three feet long. It was too fast for me to get a photo of it.) Great story and very informative!

Hello Lois, Yes, that would have been a goanna, they stand up on all fours and scuttle across the desert or roads - very fast, grow up to 4.5 long. Thanks so much for reading my friend. Hugs back, Kay.
