This is a gorgeous piece for children. I get a feel for this as if it belongs in children's anthology. I think this is well written, wonderfully whimsical piece!

Lol.. sandramitchell this is so cute, I loved it :) Very well written and expressed. Loved your closing lines of mummy mouse getting her delightful rocking chair.. Cute a fun read for the children. Thanks for sharing

I had such a good time reading this fun poem, and I was burning with as much anticipation as Mummy Mouse for her to open her present so I could know what it was. :) The rhyming was well done and the overall poem well organized. Thank you for sharing this mirth marker. :)

    It reminded me of the first poem I ever 'write' (translated: plagiarized) when I was 6yo- Mice, by By Rose Fyleman. :) Not totally, but only because my mind didn't recall it all. Still have that scrawled attempt 34 years later. Take care.

    It really is too close to the original for me to feel comfortable posting it... it's cute from a historical perspective as far as my early beginnings as a poet, but I don't want to put even my 6yo self's name on something that isn't mine and mine alone. :) It just feels wrong.

    That's a shame, but I do understand. It is nice though to still have something from your past that is a reminder of how far you have come since your earlier beginnings, as you put it. I wish I had kept some of mine! Sandra.x

    I'll dig out some of the ones from when I was a teenager. Maybe hit my page and check out some of the ones I have there. I only just joined on the 25th but already two have hit All Time Best, and one of those was a contest winner as of this morning. :) (I feel so humbled, at least as much as one can floating on cloud 9!)

Cute story in a poem! I was anxious to see what the daddy mouse had made for her. Good rhyme and meter and something kids should love!
