Thank you. I have learned to navigate the computer, and I must admit that it's much easier to write on a computer than on a typewriter. I didn't know Masterly had passed away. He was my mentor. Margaret probably passed away, too. She had just started another story that was never completed.

This is a heartfelt and engaging personal narrative that beautifully captures the journey of self-discovery, resilience, and the transformative power of writing. The honesty in your storytelling makes it relatable and deeply moving, while the subtle humor adds charm and warmth.

I don't see any grammar errors in your story, and it's interesting to read. You've apparently improved quite a bit over the years. I agree that it's great to receive FS reviews that help the writer to grow and improve. I like that you named some of your reviewers who helped you. Blessings, and best wishes in the contest. Carol

What a lovely piece of writing, and I didn't notice any errors at all. It seemed very logically arranged and well set out. I was sorry to hear about your losing your husband, however, and the grief and loss accompanying that, but I am glad you found FS. I was then surprised to see my own name pop up - what a delight, and I am so glad you enjoy my dog stories. Sunny, my dog, has recently published his first book (called Sunny Days, available throught Amazon.com if you are interested. He allowed me to say I was the author (Wendy Smith-Gordon), as I did contribute some bits! Lol. He says you would enjoy it!
Best wishes.
Wendy

Thank you. My husband lived until the end of 2018, reaching the age of eighty-nine, and would probably still be here if not for the cancer. I love your animal stories, and I may look for the story your dog wrote. It was nice of Sunny to share the credit with you.

It’s a collection of stories, most of which were posted on here. So shortish chapters and clear and easy to read. Thank you for checking.

Good to see you back! I guess you didn't know that Mastery has gone to be with the Lord a few years ago. His books are still available. I'm so happy to hear about your writing journey and your personal growth in the process! Thanks for sharing. Best wishes in the contest!

Thank you. Mastery lived only about fifty miles away from me, but I never met him. I considered him my mentor when I first started on FanStory. He suggested that I learn the rules of grammar—you might say, he insisted. I didn't realize he had passed away, but I figured as much. I'm sure Margaret is gone, too, because she never completed her last story.

I think that you spelled out some of the reasons and hard ships that a lot of us go through when we first joined the web site. I joined 11 years ago, a total novice and with the help of others have improved.

Thank you. The reviewers make FanStory unique. I wouldn't have made it this far without them.

I now feel obliged to look for errors in your post but I'm afraid I don't notice any. Instead, I found your story to be well structured, giving a good insight into you, your background and the incentive you had to start on FanStory. Clearly you've learned a lot about writing here and have banished any bothersome boredom:) Thank you for sharing your story which I enjoyed. Take care Debbie

Thanks for reading and commenting. I had to start from scratch with writing, but the proofreading course helped immensely. I bought a book on editing, which helped me learn sentence structure.

I enjoyed reading your story and like your comment about spending time with your cows. You bring up important points about those who teach us on this site with their reviews. I find many of the writers here have been so helpful to me. I too, struggle with grammar. Hope to see you back soon.

Thank you. For over thirty years, my life had revolved around cows. You can find many good grammar books that make grammar much easier to understand. The reviewers were a tremendous help, too.

Last Fall, I went to a farm that had cows and did cow cuddling. It was very therapeutic. It changed my image of cows. Elaine

I used to have over 300 cows, and I never felt any desire to cuddle with them. Lol

You are right, it is the reviewers that keep us going. Their encouragement and willingness to help are why many of us are still here. I tend to make grammatical mistakes to and the gentle reminders make me try harder. I think you must have had a hidden talent you didn't know you had because I think you write well and not at all like a beginner. This is sure to be encouraging for new writers.

Thank you. Grammar was my biggest problem. When I first started writing, I ignored grammar and just wrote. The reviewers soon changed that with gentle persuasion and not-so-gentle persuasion. Bob used tough love to correct me at times.

I enjoyed reading this story about how your writing improved. It is neat to read others stories. It has been a very long time since I was in school also. I know how you feel about the grammar part. I enjoyed seeing your pretty picture on here also! Love and blessings, Teri
