What a wonderful visual, Sandra! Those cubs have made my day! I always feel so sorry for the poor old fox although I accept they rather overdue their murderous behaviour, sometimes, in the chicken coop! You skilfully capture the interaction of nature in your 5-7-5. I would love to have seen the text slightly more prominent given the size of the picture. But that's just being picky:) Thanks for sharing, Sandra. Happy New Year! Debbie xx

    Hi Debbie,
Happy New Year to you, too! I'm glad you liked my little poem, but I'm sorry about the size of the text. I'll see if I can change it. The picture does dominate the page, I agree. Lol. The fox should stick to catching rabbits. I expect they think the chicken is an easier meal, apart from the farmers gun! Thank you for reading this one, and for the lovely review. Warmest hugs, my friend. Love Sandra xx

Sandra,

This poem looks great to me. I guess as long as your post ties in with the one before you're good. Your syllable count is good. Do you know what Gypsy is going to do with the book?

Well done my friend

Cecilia

Hi Cecilia, thank you for boosting up my confidence!! I don't know what Gypsy will do with them all. A published book would be a nice idea, though. Perhaps we could suggest it? Thanks again, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

I think we should suggest it. All who participate could chip in. It's a great idea my friend.

Thanks, I'm sure Gypsy will think so. At least I hope she does! 🤔☺️If we all did chip in, it wouldn't cost much to do it. Quite exciting really! xxx

Awe, Sandra, I believe you've got it just right. The imagery of the fox spotting the farmer's gun is wonderful. Her pubs are safe and the hens are oblivious. I love it.
Here's a Happy New Year to you. Lots of love, Ulla xxx

Smart fox but hungry babies! Hopefully Mama will find something else for them to fill their bellies with. You know I have no idea on the rules of this poem, but the picture is so cute and the words fit right in. HAPPY NEW YEAR! And here we go......

I'm in Gypsy's Japanese Poetry Club, too. It's very fun and pushes me with these new assignments and forms. This offering by you is especially excellent, and I will look forwarding to reading more. It encapsulates the entire scene in just seventeen syllable. And the picture you found for it is absolutely perfect! Well done!!

Happy new year to you, Sandra; I hope it's your best one yet.

I've only just joined and I have to say I'm way out of my depth! I haven't a clue how to go about any of them. I'll have to have a chat with Gypsy. I'm so glad you enjoyd this one, thanks, Rachelle.
A happy new year to you, too, my friend. I hope it's a healthy, joyful one! Love and hugs, Sandra xx

Hi Sandra,
This is a foxes autobiography in three lines
The hens are the ones being saved, though they don't realize it. At least this fox family lived for another, hopefully to find food elsewhere.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Hope you had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year.
Joan

Well I've never had a henhouse, never been on a farm, but I do understand the foxes thinking of leading the farmer and his gun away from his cubs. Protective parental nature...

Excellent, thought provoking post.

Happy 2025 and a safe, healthy and prosperous one.

Oh... congrats on your award. Well deserved!

Cheers,
John

Thank you so much, John. I think the mother fox should go for the rabbits, there are more of those around! I'm glad you liked my little poem, thanks, my friend. I wish you and your family the same, especially a healthy one! Warmest hugs, Sandra xx

Hi Sandra,

I love the painting; are you the artist?

You paint a vivid picture with your limited words. I like how the fox diverts the farmer's attention to save her pups.

A comma after "slinks off" would help to separate the two thoughts: fox slinking off and the cubs remaining hungry.

Change "farmers" to "farmer's"

Patricia

-Great artwork and nice presentation, Sandra.
-You did a good job with the follow up poem.
-The fox is a very crafty animal and I guess
that is why they are called a sly fox.
-It checks out its surroundings, especially
when little ones are involved.
-A very good satori line.
-Happy New Year, too!!!
