One of the things that I really like about your poetry is how you bring sounds to us, not just sights. Like when you say "The darkening night can plainly be heard" and then bring crickets into the picture. I've noticed in other poems I've read of yours that you often bring the world around us to life with sound.

You write some lovely lines, Pam. I really enjoyed your "musings".

A little daydreaming as your beautiful descriptive words carry the reader along throughout the beauty of nature. A sweet reprise from the bitterness of winter that is quickly approaching, though this morning instead of 30 like yesterday, it's 63.

Hi Pam,
Thank you for sharing this beautifully crafted poem of summer. The imagery is strong, and I like the way you personified nature with "wearing short sleeves" and (moon) "taking a dive".
It flows well apart from the line "while dew's getting ready to wet the place down." which deviates from the meter.
Great Job. - Terry

Pam,
Your poem is so vibrant and beautiful
I love the 10-syllable beat of your work; it sounds soft and pleasant like summer. Your descriptions are unique and so creative.
Exceptional poem, Pam.
Best wishes and good luck,

Your descriptions are so clear and lovely, they set the imagery in my mind of a beautiful sunny day surrounded by floral gardens as I sit here contemplating turning the heat up in my house!

The glorious moon is first to arrive.
Her moonbeams are bright and taking a dive.
The sounds of a loon can make the heart ache.
Their cries can be heard around the dark lake.

This is my favorite verse as it reminds me of my lake house in Maine on a summer evening.

Thanks for sharing.

You must live in a warm climate state to have oleander growing. It's very poisonous so that home daycares cannot have them in the yards but they are very pretty and hardy. In Hawaii, I remember that the highway meridians had oleander growing.
Enjoyed your sweet musings on nature as it shifts from summer to autumn.

First of all let me say that the vivid imagery in this piece is very immersive and effective. In a few places I felt like I was swapping between present and past, if that was unintentional, maybe look at that? Otherwise, your progression from day to night to day again is beautifully done.

You were just musing beautifully about summer. It is starting to get pretty cold here in Michigan. Praying for a lite quick winter, but the predictors are saying differently.

Nicely done!

Hello Pam.
You have successfully set up a picture of a mild summer day. You go through to the end of the day as sunsets, and you change the narrative but then the sun rises again, and you continue the narrative in a different setting. The poem is well done. Your phrasing and rhymes are good. It is well written.
