A perfectly structured sonnet, flowing and rhyming effortlessly to its conclusion that he is a conduit for his words to continue their truth after his eventual death. We're all in the process of dying. It's what we leave behind that matters. Beautifully done, as ever, Jess. My favourite is your third stanza. Take care Debbie xo

I like the idea behind this one the words live on, but only if they are read that is the difficult part. The rhyming works although it has an almost mechanical clarity to it. Although this writing should feel passionate there is a sterility in the rhyme. I like it but there is something I cannot quite put my finger on.

A perfectly written sonnet, Jessica. There is lots to love about this and it immediately reminded me of Arthur Rimbaud who died at the age of 37.
I return to his poetry often and it always surprises me how he had written with such mature power of observation and yet he stopped writing poetry at the age of 21.
Very well done and many thanks for sharing. :)

That is the hope of all writers/poets that our words will outlive us and somehow bless the readers we never get to meet. Your sonnet was perfectly crafted and I especially liked:
"The ink that trails behind to mark his years,
Will spill his soul until that final breath."

This is shivery good! I love so many phrases you've used. Like:
For he's been dying long before his death.
This poet's dedication to his art form to the end is romantic and a bit tragic.
I really enjoyed this!

You make us see this poet who could not exist without writing and did so right up to his death. His legacy will be the words he struggled to write. Hopefully they will be remembered.
Your rhythm is flawless and I enjoyed this sonnet very much.

Maybe because it is late at night, but I thought this sonnet read very well. You have a good subject and good meter and rhymes. It was hard to pick a line I liked best, maybe: The ink that trails behind to mark his years/Will spill his soul
Very nice share.

This is what I love about poetry, it is both timeless and also enduring as we leave our legacy behind in ink that lasts long after our death. A fine sonnet Jessica with perfect metre and rhyme, I love the sentiment too, a masterful and talented post, love Dolly x

A poignant piece that captures the essence of a poet's quest. Immortality through his words preserved on paper. Whispers in the wind for generations to come.
