That is a wonderful ode, and expresses how I hoped I was as a teacher (except I had secondary school students) and how I see my daughter as a teacher. Very smooth rhyme and perfect metre, and a wonderful tribute to the work of that teacher and others as they genuinely care for "their" children. Best wishes for the contest. Hope you win.

Hi
This is a wonderful poem that flows well. It has unforced rhymes that tell of what a great teacher can do for a doubting child. It takes a good person to get a child to thrive despite fear. You are right that all parents should be grateful for a good teacher and that all great teachers are heroes.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Good luck in the contest.

What a beautiful ode to the second grade teacher expressed in these lovely aabb rhymed quatrains that flowed of wonderfully scripted iambic tetrameter. You painted a touching portrait of dedicated service to our youth. Well done. Good luck in the contest.

Wow, this is lovely, but if I may, I would suggest enlarging the font you have used -- it would be a shame if many people skipped by it because they can't read it without struggling.
The rhyme, the meter, its ability to evoke imagery -- it is all there! And the story it tells of the protagonist is wonderful. An exceptional ode, IMHO. Sadly, I have no sixes left to rate it properly, but best of luck in the contest.

What a beautiful piece of writing! This really reinforces the work of teachers and particularly those in the formative years. I hope that your child's teacher gets to read this and to understand the extent of the positive impact she has made. :)

I had a hero math teacher, an inspiration to me. He took a very shy, sad girl who struggled and really set me on the righr path. He turned everything around for me, and i ended up with a BA degree. What a wonderful tribute.

This is a beautiful ode to the tireless, devoted teachers who are always looking for ways to inspire our young ones to be the best they can be. Heroes, indeed!

Comment from Pam Lonsdale
A good teach does more than teach, she instills confidence and pride in her students and encourages their dreams. These men and women are truly heroes.
This is such a fine poem, and so well written, about those who go above and beyond to build a good foundation for our future generations. Teachers do so much and are so underrated in today's society.
Thank you for sharing this. I wish I had a six left to give you, and I hope this does well in the contest.

Comment from Debbie D'Arcy
This is an excellent verse as an ode to the teacher. It was effortless to read in its magical flow and assured rhyme and captured the depth of the gratitude we owe to the best of teachers. Love your final stanza and the imagery of planting seeds and cracking shells. A first-rate entry for this contest and a strong contender in my view! Good luck! Debbie

I applaud the teacher described in this ode. The Speaker. A mother of a second-grader has seen how her child was literally brought to life by this teacher. This is a lovely tribute, nicely crafted, and definitely deserves a six-star rating. Rod
