You should share this with your friends. It says "thank you" more than any card ever could. I've not read any of your other chapters yet. I will look forward to more of your insights.

We think alike. That was Job One when I finished it. I made copies and snail mailed them.
Thanks for this lovely review. I'll look forward to your feedback on the other chapters.

A well-organized riveting essay that makes this reader want to make a list of my friends. I'm happy to say that when my husband was alive, he loved me unconditionally which all friends should do. Honesty and loyalty no matter what.
I think Friendship is more important in grade school and high school and even college than any other time. As you point out, when we age we don't give our trust so blindly.
I like the memes you included too, even the dark one because i feel it has validity.
Thanks for posting this.

Spitfire, I always love it when I see your profile pic among my Reviews because I know I am going to read something thorough and honest and expressive. Thank you for always doing the best job when assessing a post. I appreciate it very, very much. (And, of course, I also love your red hair!) xo

At forty I colored my hair red. I was born a brunette which was fine until white hairs started creeping in. I WILL NEVER GO WHITE! Well, as long as I'm able to apply Nice N' Easy. Smile.

It looks GREAT on you! I thought, with that beautiful porcelain skin, you were a natural ginger. Regardless, you look good, and you refer to yourself as a spitfire. I think the brunette-all-your-life was your transitional phase to The Real You!! (I'll never go white, either...though I started turning at 25!)

Rach, this is a great piece of writing on friendship. Also, thanks for the large, readable text. Your writing is like having a conversation with you. The message/main idea is sharply focused. It is at times funny and at other times serious. I like how you intermingled memes in your text with fun or serious observations about them. (Side note I too love memes).
What is revealed in this piece is what you value in a friend. It is well-written.

Copy the following: If you have nothing in life but a good friend, you are rich. Reminded me of my dad's quotation if you are a friend to someone you would die for them, and that's why servicemen are my favorite.

I have only one life-long friend. We grew up as neighbors in the fifties and are now in our seventies. We are still best friends and will be until we die. Thank you for sharing this lovely writing.

It has been said of me that I am someone who could make a new friend in an empty room. I love people and while I am not overboard with anyone, I believe that in order to make a friend, one must be friendly. I wear an open smile most of the time. When I am depressed or not feeling friendly I do my utmost to isolate myself until I once again feel friendly. I have a few close friends, but an untold number of casual friends. From this group, some develop into a much closer relationship. I never rush things, but do not oppose those who impress me as someone who truly value my friendship.

I love this. It gives me the most beautiful insight into your nature. That's quite the compliment to be able to make a new friend in an empty room!! It speaks volumes. Thanks for warming up my day. xo
-
Thank you. See, now you could become my newest friend.
-
And you, mine. Nothing would make me happier.
-
Let's make it happen then.

I love this essay/story that rings so true about friends and the lovely beauty of friendships ~ especially those that have lasted through the years. Well done on your logical sequencing of thought and points. I enjoyed the use of memes ~ so clever. An enjoyable read, Rachelle.

Melissa, you zeroed in on EXACTLY the part that gave me the most angst: the sequencing. I'm SO glad you were my first reviewer because you reduced my Fret Factor immensely...and I know if it WEREN'T right, you would have said that, too. (because you're a good reviewer. You would have said it kindly, but you would have let me know it needed work. I love that I can trust that about you.) Thank you for this wonderful review! (And ps, I bet you have LOTS of Real friends because you get what you give in this life! xoxo)

Hugs, sweet Rachelle!!!
