Your faith shines through every note of this piece. I like the questioning tone and the search for answers, ultimately all found in one place. The conversational style works well, making this like a personal conference.

Mike, I thank you so very much for your always kind words! You are right, this was like a personal conference of the devil on one shoulder arguing with the Angel on the other. However knowing that there is only one truth, is why I'm working towards making that the winning side. Thanks again my friend!

Blame and punishment is not ours to assess or administer. That belongs exclusively to God. He will sometimes give us the instruction to punish on his behalf, but that is not often given, more in Bible times than now. At any rate, our instruction is to be forgiving as Jesus often did. His plea from the torture stake was for his father to forgive those who did not know what they were doing. Notice, he said those who did not know, not those who knowingly called for and participated in his death.

Thank you Nomi. This is not something that I have ever dealt with before, as not only do I not forgive, but as a rule, I do not get angry. However this has become a hard personal struggle of mine, and I am getting closer but I think you will understand more in a few days when the contest is over. I thank you for your very kind review my friend and I thank you for your very kind review.

Lovely poem, but in my humble opinion I think it will make a better entry for the faith poetry than the current theme. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest and your writings.

Thank you Iza, and you may very well be right, but I always try to mix it up, as Jesus if my rock, my best friend and my closest relative. So naturally I would think to do an ode to Him as I struggle with a problem and ask for His help to solve it. Thank you though my friend as I completely understand where you were coming from. : )

Sometimes it's hard to forgive. Take the parents of the children murdered in Texas, how can they forgive the man who did that? I know I would find it hard. But you're right, to be able to forgive means you are in a better place, regardless of whether the person you are forgiving is repentant of whatever sin he committed. This poem really made me think. Well done and good luck in the contest. Sandra xx

Sandra, thank you so much for your very kind comments. My problem that I am struggling with is much like what you explained of that horrific. Shooting in Texas. As mine was not where my loved one was killed, but next to it. I had a reviewer ask if this would maybe a better entry to a faith contest, but like I explained to her, Jesus is my rock, my best friend, and my brother. So while I am struggling with the worst problem in my lifetime, that only He and my Father can help me with, it only seemed natural to show how much that means to me. Thanks Sandra for your very kind words and review. You are appreciated my friend!

Hello author, a thought provoking poem. Of special note:
But what about those who don't apologize?
Those too we should forgive, and try to harmonize
(In my opinion, NO. To be forgiven, one must ask. There are no free rides in life.)
Also:
So Lord I ask forgiveness, while I'm trying to be forgiving
(Something that I learned from a FS member many years ago. It has helped me. Perhaps, it will help you - paraphrasing ... Forgive the sin, but not the sinner .... Love the Sinner, hate the sin--something like that.
I don't know if that is right or wrong, but it has helped me, especdially with people who have not and will not apologize or take responsibility for their actions.)
Author, I can feel that you are in pain, and this pain is ripping you apart. You are a child of God. He loves you, and He loves that you are trying to be the very best person that you can be. I do know that we are suppose to forgive others as Christ did when on the Cross, perhaps in time, you will. In the meantime, you are healing, a necessary process.
A poem of love, pain, and healing. As this is a contest entry, I wish you good luck. LateBloomer

This is a beauteous poem on
the Lord and forgiveness.
You've written its not always
easy to forgive, but, yet, Christ
forgave so much, even on
the cross. Outstanding
penning. Blessings to you ~

The cancer of many relationships is the inability to say that's okay,. I forgive you. Makes even blood relatives distance themselves to miss the joy of having family.

Thanks Tom, but this one is about someone I don't even know, nor do I ever want to. I have never struggled with this kind of hurt, so I wrote this to feel the comfort that I always get when writing, but encouraging words are so comforting too, such as yours. Thank you my friend for the kind review and comments.

I feel the fervent nature of your verse...
Often it is difficult to both feel worthy of forgiveness...and to release all anger and forgive.
Peace abounds with both!
