I dint know who anonymous friend is that has written this, but I'm glad you did, and yes there is something deeply therapeutic, and that's the reason for your impromptu rescue, God had important work for you to do, and according to Jeremiah 29:11, had a future and good things, out of harm's way. Well done, blessings Roy

Thank you. I don't know what important work I was kept on this planet for unless it is saving cats. When we had the dairy farm people (if you want to call them that) were always dumping off cats. I would get them fixed and do my best to find homes for them. Hugs.

No, you're much more than that

I am so sorry for your loss and I just can't imagine losing one of my children as it seems so cruel and life can be cruel sometimes and I am glad that your writing stopped you from committing suicide and you carried on living and coping. Your write will help others who have been in this situation, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Thank you. Writing didn't stop me, the kitten did. Now I write about it at times. What was the chance of a tiny kitten being in that exact spor at that precise time? Hugs to you.

I didn't know one could be addicted to cats. :-) My writing or reason for writing is much the same as yours: just for fun. The only tip I can give is it would be easier to read your writing if the font was bigger. And you might try bold print.

Thank you. I'm addicted to cats, no doubt about it. I'm going to have to learn to use the advanced editor as I don't know how at this point. I have found it easier to write my stories on Word and paste them to FanStory. No matter what size font I use on Word it comes through the smaller size on this site. Any tips? Hugs.

I enjoyed reading your very honest account of why you write. I'm glad that you didn't try to make it some kind of compelling drive that kept you from eating and sleeping. Your style and grammar are both excellent. Keep writing the things that mean something to you.

Thank you. That's what I do. If some prompt goes 'ding' in my mind, the words just roll off naturally. If it doesn't 'ding' I don't try because it won't sound right. Hugs

You are most welcome.

loved it. it said so much but wasn't cluttered. Easy words that flowed. great ideas simply said. Even the tragic experience of losing your son. you used so few words to say so much. I wouldn't be surprised to see that win a contest. Not one word bored me.

Thank you for reading and the six stars. They are appreciated. The less said the better. Sometimes it is easier to convey a thought in fewer words instead of long-drawn-out explanations. Hugs to You.

I think that is the best reason to write. There is a lot of pain in my heart, but I can't write about it, at least, not yet. One day, perhaps writing as if it's a story, someone elses.
I can't imagine what it's like to lose your child, and hope I never have to find out. But I'm so glad you've found it helped you to write about it. Life can throw many spikey balls at us, we have to find out how to smoothe them. I enjoyed reading your contest entry. Well done, and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xxx

Thamk you. I understand how you feel. It took years before I felt that I could tell others what happened through writing. I still find it hard to tell someone face to face. Hugs to you.

You write a good clear account of why you write. The words fun / addiction / therapy all come to mind as I read. Reasons that I think drive many of us. Without such strong motivations, we would give up, as it is so hard some days.

Thank you. If I find it hard to write I quit for a while. After my husband died in 2018 I quit writing until just a few weeks ago. I will write about him sometime but I'm not ready yet. Hugs to you.

One of the biggest rewards from reading these accounts of why people write is the clear message that the writers here are motivated by any and every conceivable reason under the sun. Despite anyone's reason for writing, it is legitimate and is to be respected. My main motivation for writing is simple. It is as imperative as breathing. I simply cannot not write. Writing for me is as essential as breathing. The problem that this presents is that I am filling up journals with all the things I am writing. I have a problem with discarding things I have discontinued as unproductive.

Thank you. I find your reason for writing quite interesting. To me it's not as imperative at breathing. I feel like writing or I don't. After my husband died in 2018 I quit writing until just recently. I don't know if I will keep on writing or not, time will tell. Hugs to you.

Thank you. I did not intend to make my response about me, but I could not help but to tell of my reasons for writing while responding to yours. I hope you do not mind.
