I particularly like your last line here - it is true that with ageing comes that freedom to be one's self and to no longer need to pretend in order to mask insecurity. Well thought through, original, and creative.

Thank you. It has always seemed so to me. I would not be young like that again.

Your rhyming poem on the topic of youth resonates effectively.
In retrospect it is interesting to reflect on the confidence that the young feel in their ideas and actions.
Well written and presented.

Your contest entry reads will and creates great imagery. I enjoyed reading your poem. Mystery Author. You painted a picture of youth many will identify with themselves. As youth ages, s/he realizes things may be different than what they first thought or were taught.
Best wishes in the contest.
Respectfully, Jan

Fortunate is the man who is allowed to grow to maturity and correct the mistakes he made as a youth. Some have their lives ended as a result of missteps. The fortunate avoid destruction and live long enough to regret their errors and the wisdom to give thanks for the things they did right.

Isn't that the truth. Thank you for your thoughtful response.

Your poem is very expressive and descriptive of how the aging may look back on how determined they once were to appear masterful at all times,
never flinching.

Now this is poetry! And I like the way you started of.. "When I was young, and oh so sure, I walked with authority. I masked my insecurity". Dope! You definitely did you your thing. Keep Writing. And stay connected

Sometimes when we are young, we think we know all the answers to everything. But as we mature, we realize that there is so much more to learn, and that we only grow and mature as we lay aside our ideas and learn from others.
