Nicholas had no idea what he was getting into when he accepted this job, did he? He is the "real" grounds keeper so he is expected to know exactly what to do, although no one has taught him anything. Looks like trial and error will get him there as long as he keeps his wits about him.
This is a great story. You have me hooked.

Not a clue...LOL!! ;) But here he is... I think I'm enjoying it as much as him!! ;) :) The kid in my pen, ya know?! ;) :) Thanx for your wonderful support -- I shall endeavor to keep 'on top' of The Gardens! ;) Yvette

Hi Yvette. I finally got internet back after 5 days. It works great today but I am holding my breath. I haven't seen these characters for a while and had to recall the last encounter. Finding the "Chester drawers" (that's chest of drawers in NC. We make em here) :) My curiosity leads me to the light in the drawer. Z (*_*)

Thanx for keeping up with Nicholas and his adventures, Z -- your support means a lot! ;) :) Hopefully things will stay 'even' so that I can keep up with the chapters each month - teaching is certainly 'unpredictable' some times! ;) :) That cabinet holds all sorts of possibilities.... :) :) Yvette

If the fountain of youth is in there, I'm not interested. I'm getting old as fast as I can. Z(*_*)

LOL! Naaaah, no fountains...think I'll stick to other 'weird things' for now! ;) :)

I'm walking into this mid way, but what I liked about it was the attention to detail in the descriptions of the surroundings, the placement of scene and the sharp delineation of characters in their voices that made the scene come alive. You brought out all those elements of suspense and intrigue that keep a good suspense story going. I think you ended it at an opportune moment to catch our interest in finding what is in the cabinet. And why it was so important to open. This seems pretty well geared to your target audience, although its not quite my cup of tea anymore. Tolkien is the gold standard of these fantasy pieces, I think. Good luck with it. estory

Thanx so much, E, for your awesome review and for stepping into this one midstream... always good to hear an 'outside' opinion! ;) And, yeah, there is but one Tolkien... this is by no means not meant to rival him or his works... :) Yvette

Thanks of the informative notes about Ana, YM. I understand it much better now. I enjoyed this chapter. The line I enjoyed most was the one with 'nattering gnome. . . ' I'm thrilled Nicholas' 'blessing' worked. Interesting what is in store for the next chapter. I'll be there to read. Thanks for sharing. Respectfully with Love and Admiration, Jan.

Poor cabinet has been through so much. I can only imagine how confused Nicholas is by all these proceedings. Wow, great chapter ending! I wonder what's inside!

I nearly passed out when I saw the garden shed! I was sure I was hallucinating. And then, I opened it and wow and behold there it was ... the next chapter!! My husband said I was only unconscious for half an hour, but I'm okay, so you needn't worry, Yvette. Then I read the chapter, and, oh they were all there waiting to be released for their fans to see them again! Bless their hearts. Now I suppose I'll have to wait until next year to see what that blinding light is????? LOL! Welcome back! :)) Sandra xxx

LOL!! Yeah, I figured you say that, my wonderful friend!! ;) But I cannot thank you enough for your encouragement and, yes, I will try to keep up better this year.... I think that with the 'winter cold' and the end of the semester (responsibilities and exams and PARENTS!!), I was just not feeling 'fantasy happy'.... don't know if that's understandable or not, but that's the nutty blonde, I guess! ;) Either way THANK YOU for your wonderful support and encouragement, Sandra -- it means more to me than you know!! ;) :) Here's to more of each of the stories to come soon, yeah?! ;) :) Take care! ;) Yvette

I love the way your fertile brain creates these characters and plots their escapades. Wonderful how exhaling opens the drawer in the mysterious cabinet. Now you've whetted my curiosity about the light inside. It's a bit like opening a fridge door isn't it? LOL

What one discovers by serendipity cannot be under-estimated. The rule could very well be that searching thought to act as the open-sesame for garden shed doors. Ooh, so bright!

LOL! I almost went there, but many 'younger' readers probably have not even heard of the term! ;) Thanx again, Bill, for all your support! Oooh, a magically lighted drawer beckons at the end of this! Archie, Constantine, and Nicholas seem about to jump into adventure. Or however the next chapter has them reacting to this drawer. Sounds like Groundskeeper Nicholas is still trying to figure out how to live up to his title. We have a pussycat at home who loves, loves, loves drawers and cupboards. So here is the cliffhanger, er, drawer-hanger!
