Hello, this was beautiful and full of imagery. I loved the way she groomed the garden. That was a very expressive phrase in your work. The picture sets the tone of the poem perfectly.
A very good poem I'd recommend to others for review, and thanks for sharing it, Ana.

Beautifully crafted with excellent rhyme and meter.
Nice descriptive language introducing the reader to
this wonderful gardener. Her love and care for the soil
detailed here, makes me want to get out in the garden right now.
Thanks for sharing this tribute to a lover of nature.

Our grandmothers worked hard, always staying busy from dawn until dark. So many responsibilities, and then, they still had to look after everyone else. Yet they didn't consider it a chore, they loved every second of making everyone's lives better. My, my, how times have changed over the years. Thanks for sharing. Great job. ! :-)

Yes, gardeners everywhere cannot wait to feel the dirt running through their fingers as they lovingly prepare the soil for spring planting. To be one with the earth is a natural desire. And to reap its fruitage is the ultimate joy. Your poem painted the experience perfectly.

I loved your tribute poetry to your grandmother and her garden. The stanza: I see her now in her attire: Pink cap, blue sweater, billowed skirt. I like the description there! Well-written!

I liked this poem. It has a strong sense of place and helps the reader enter the garden and this moment in time. It imparts upon the reader a sense of calm serenity that perhaps this woman feels while gardening.

This is an excellent poem that speaks about grandma in her garden. Even without seeing the beautiful accompanying artwork, I can through your descriptive wording see everything about her. Grandma's do things the old fashioned way and know how to make things grow. You've done a great job with this RodG! It's worthy of the awards it has received. Well done!

Wonderful memories to behold and so beautifully, meticulously expressed in this poem. I am not her, but have same passion for gardening, my love for Nature, the earth and in same way as she tend to my garden, which you so well express in detail.
Spring time is my favourite season and can't wait to get out, get on my knees, feel the soil trough my hands, the smell of it and do like grandma does - blissful and humbling, indeed paradise to be in, at one with all ! Perfect picture to complement poem.
Good luck in contest !

Thank you Rod for delightful response and indeed this poem fills me with melancholy, all the gardens I created and tended to. Now I only have a small, semi-circle patch which doesn't need much tending. However, enjoy just sitting next to it, enchanted by simply observing and talking to the plants, insects, the earth, this sacred little garden I created. Accompanied by bird song, etc. I am renting part of a house now, but intend to buy a small one with a bigger garden to potter in to my heart's delight. With love and passion for gardening and Nature, Susan xxx

I enjoyed your rhymed quatrains, which are so descriptive of a gardener's joy in being close to the earth. Your use of alliteration and the serene artwork intensified the message. Cheers and enjoy spring- Joan
