Love the change of format here... going from ballad to 14er. Again, I am sure this will fire the imagination of kids just listening! Sad to hear these kids are growing up though, but wonderful to know you are one step closer to publishing!!! The whole series must hold universal appeal to children, being that you have so many varied countries involved!!

Thanks so much for the encouraging sixth, Alf. I had the worst time with this, since it did have to end with the well known phrase, "Happily ever after," which is absolutely not iambic friendly. Another poet whom I admire greatly gave me permission to use the contraction apostrophe, a poet's favorite cheat, and it finally fell into place. Just three to go. Waiting on the artwork for one and a bit of futzing with the other two. Would love your input on the new artist. - Wendy

Absolutely loved the artwork for this one... the rest have been good, but this is sooooo child friendly!!!!

As always, an enjoyable addition to your book, Wendy. Illustrated beautifully by Alana. Toward the end you have included this wonderful line which is the crux of the poem for me:
"you can always win the day by being true of heart."

You found it, dear Marilyn. The theme of so many Fairy Tales and Myths revolves around that theme and the trust people need to have. I'm glad you liked it. Lynn hasn't seen this one yet. My friend Alana had done this one for a similar poem I wrote called A Trip By Book, so I borrowed it for now. Thanks for the R & R as always. - Wendy

Both ladies artwork is super. I like both. This one by Alana is bright, playful and colorful. I like that.

This is a delightful poem of the joys of childhood imagination! I thoroughly enjoyed the poem. It had a nice rhythm and rhyme which helped punctuate the positive feel of the poems mood.

This is an excellent children's poem. It would make a great addition to a children's book. You should look for a publisher.

Thank you Thomas. As soon as I get the last of these pesky kids in line I think I will do just that. Got any in mind? - Wendy

I'm glad you liked it Nancy. Fairy tales will never go out of style, I hope. Lots of life lessons and imagination fuel there. When you say interesting picture, do you mean good interesting or 'Huh?' interesting. - Wendy

Thanks Barb. Somebody mentioned they wondered where Canada was and I quick finished this one. I do hope you are an expert at children's things since you seem to like these, a lot. Perhaps the young'uns will too. - Wendy

Hi Wendy,
Another wonderful children's poem from your gifted pen excellent iambic heptameter and a few lines of feminine end rhymes. I like that you wrote your FER in pairs, I think that provides the reader with a much smoother read. The only line that I will mention that you may want to take a look at is your last line, which is 16 syllables. If I may suggest something like; Cause Quincy's best-loved stories end with "happy ever after". That's all I can come with, if YOU decide to make a change. It's always your call. Your story took me along with Quincy Quinar on his quests around the globe, Wonderful alliteration and descriptive words bring forth nice visuals to this reader. A pleasure to read, as always! I'm just wondering if you are writing these in alphabetical order? Maybe you're bouncing around a bit, just a bit earlier, I read about Yani the yodeler. No matter, are you hoping to publish the book?
all the best,
Rodger

Hello again Warren, Yes, I am bouncing around as the muse directs. I have the basics on all the other Alpha kids, but need time to go in and flesh them out. I appreciate the suggestion on that long line. I hoped someone would give me a hint because I couldn't figure out what to get rid of. I may move the happily ever after inside. It is such a well known phrase that I hate to abbreviate it. But if I do, let me know if you need credit in the margin notes. ;) Thanks for giving Quincy a look.
-
No credit is necessary for me, Wendy. I thought of moving it up in that line too but was trying to correct it with your words. I think the problem is that "happily ever after" is not iambic.
HAP pi LY EV er AFT er.

I know, maybe we can go back and change all the fairytales instead. Or I could fudge with happ'ly. Such a conundrum.
-
Great idea, I'd go with that!

A very well-written poem about Quincy Qiuinar from Canada who reads lovely stories where the heroes always wins. He starts to write his own books starting with Once upon a time .... And ends with. .... Happily ever after....
