Rats. No necktie party. Classic dog in the manger, didn't want to be with the gal but got his knickers in a wad when
somebody else did. Good old western justice all around.

LOL so glad you liked this one. I liked 'got his knickers in a wad'.... That would be a subject in itself. Thank you for the delightful review.

This deserves 6 stars. It was an enjoyable story poem to read and savour. There's probably a lot of truth in these lines. I reckon it was like that back then.
I think this should be hyphenated: heart broken
Personally, I like poems to end with a period.
It sounds quite professional. Have you done any of the FS poetry classes?

No I haven't had classes since college. However, I would probably benefit from them. I do study forms when I can. So glad you enjoyed this one Nicole. The beautiful shining sixer is awesome.
BTW... do you have any simple lamb recipes. This will shock you, but I have not cooked lamb as far as I can remember. The few times I tried it (other than Gyros, which I love) it had to much mint flavor.
I checked on the Internet and it seems it pairs well with garlic and rosemary. I figured the 'local lamb lady' would be the one to ask. :-)

If it is a roast - I would suggest to cook it slowly and let it rest for 10 mins before carving. Jamie Oliver and Hugh Fernly-Whatever-his-name-is have good recipes, best to google them. Rosemary and garlic do work well. Best wishes!

This is cute and well written, Carolyn. It reminds me of a song my Aunt Vera taught me, 'Give My Love to Nellie, Jack. Nicely done. Miss Sally

Passions run too high and murder is committed in the heat of the moment. Communication is the moral to the story. Well written story in a poem, with excellent rhyming, description and message. Most enjoyable, good luck in the contest. Faye

Hah! And they say Hell hath no fury as a woman scorned? I would contend that a man with a grudge and a gun comes in at a close second... a man just like poor Sam.

What a story-in-a-poem, Carolyn, and perfect for the Quatrain Poetry Contest about to be unveiled by the FS Committee in two days.

I wish you the best of luck with it! ~Dean

Hi, Carolyn,

Well, duh, how did you know westerns are my weakness??! LOL! I love, love, six star love this! My first start given so far this week.

Such a fun story, well, maybe not so fun for Sam's girl and new guy. Although, Sam does need to maintain his temper.

Good luck in the contest.

Cheers & Blessings
Keep Smilin'... Jax (*,*)

How cool is that? Thanks Jax for this fabulous review and rating. I was kicking this around and almost made it a story, then saw the contest. Yep, the noose got cheated....
Have a great and safe week. We have ice here.

I have our windows and doors open!! Yahoo!! Not to rub it in, BUT, it's been in the 80's during the day.

    Cheers... Jax

Not rubbing it in???? What conditions must you have before you brag.. LOL... We had 62 yesterday morning and 21 this morning. The temp dropped like a rock.
I guess I am gearing up for our trip west in January. I have been painting western desert, and sunset scenes for weeks now.

We had friends there for years. They both passed away just last year. Barbara and Wayne Webster. Larry is very familiar with the area but I have never been there, wouldn't that be fabulous to meet? It may not happen but thank you so much for thinking of it. :-) Carolyn
