This is a strong message carrying a lot of emotion. It is well presented in the 5-7-5 form. Thankfully, a child can be very forgiving for a time because parents are the foundation of their young life. But the window to right a wrong closes rapidly.

Five judgmental words
or seven hurled in anger
child lost forever
This creates a lot of guessing.
What Five words? What seven words?
Was it to help the child?
Why has the child been lost?
The struggle involved to uncover these answers is too great a task.

Thanks for taking the time to read and rate my work....
Any five words that are judgmental
any words spoken in hate
lost------always when words drive the wedge into a heart
meant only to be thought provoking.... must have succeeded if you are pondering answers.

A good 5/7/5 entry for the contest. A lovely picture that shows how, what you have written in your poem, can affect a child. Their fragile little minds must be nurtured if they are to grow up happy and secure. Good luck in the contest. Regards Dorothy

Excellent.
The brain of a child is innocent and receptive, and full of love and trust; such a canvas accepts all words and phrases.
Some of the words and phrases are harsh, damaging, evil, and they forever adhere to the canvas of the mind.
The gallery of the mind will be visited often by the child, while growing up, and more often as an adult; the photos and memories of bad times, and sad times, of scolding, of violence, stand out like a ringing bell in a library; not to be avoided with closed eyes, or covered ears.
The painter of violence to a child's brain is like a chronic disease taking root in a child's organs; a painful existence, a difficult recovery, and possibly insanity.
Domestic violence-physical-and especially emotional, is a cardinal sin and should rate the person who does this-to anyone-especially children-a permanent place in emotional Hell.

Verbal abuse can do so much. I like the way you employed a Biblical like proverb with this. In the Bible the number 7 represents completeness.

A picture of a child who is upset.
Yes we can hurt the feelings of a child. And I suppose they can remember for a long time.
An evocative write, concise and visual.

Even tho I appreciate your very true message & the way it's expressed, this poem is not about "having fun" so it doesn't seem to be appropriate for this contest. That being said, I thank you for sharing this important message.

Thank you for the nice review of my work. I did not interpret the instructions for the contest as meaning the content had to be about having fun..only the process of creating the work to be fun.. thus I only created that which was spoken to me. Thanks again and all the luck to you in your personal endeavors.

I understand how writing about something you feel strongly about can also be fun.
